ROLE OVERVIEW

 

Part of our Hotel Administration team on our Ocean vessels, the Crew Purser  efficiently manages all crew related financial and administrative matters onboard the ship and ensures that these matters are carried out in accordance with Viking’s STAR Service Standards. The Crew Purser reports to Hotel Purser and Associate General Manager.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO ON BOARD

 

  • Manages all crew related administrative and financial matters onboard.
  • Liaise with Crewing, Port Agents and travel agents for crew movements and CIQ formalities.
  • Manage the completion of the signing on/off process for all crew members in MXP; ensure that crew passports hold valid visas and ensure that all necessary information is accurately loaded into MXP.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of crew files including certification, travel documents, personal details, etc.
  • Prepare and administer accurate payroll and onboard crew accounts; process crew cash advances and ShipMoney requirements, as per company guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prepare and submit end of month financial reports; maintain accurate cash floats.
  • Maintain crew manifests for onboard safety regulations and international requirements (i.e. Shore Passes etc.); ensure that crew passports and Seaman’s Books are maintained and valid.

ABOUT YOU

  • A required minimum of two years’ experience as a Crew Purser/Crew Manager/Crew Services Manager/Shipboard Personnel Manager.
  • Fluent in English - must be able to address any kind of information in an adequate manner with excellent oral and written English communication skills – the ability to speak an additional language is an advantage.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of clearance and visa requirements in international waters, for crew embarkation and disembarkation.
  • Must have a financial background, relative to payroll and accounting; strong administration skills are preferred and proficiency with PC based databases, spread sheets, and word processing systems is required.
  • Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality, professional appearance.
  • Must confidentially handle all communications, including written, email, and phone.
  • Flexible, stress resistant, committed team player and exceptional work ethic is required; must demonstrate the ability to work independently.
