Your Purpose
An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled and motivated Foreman to join our Engine Department on board MSC Cruises. In this key supervisory role, you will support the Staff Engineer in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the Engine spaces. You will lead and coordinate engine ratings, ensuring that all maintenance and repair activities are performed according to MSC standards, safety regulations, and operational excellence principles. Your role will be essential in maintaining the reliability of technical systems and contributing to a safe working environment in a dynamic, multicultural setting at sea.
Your Impact
As Foreman, you play a key role in supporting the Staff Engineer in the daily operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the Engine Department. You supervise and coordinate engine ratings, ensuring that all maintenance and repair work is performed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with MSC Cruises standards and international regulations. You monitor the proper use of materials, tools, and spare parts, maintaining accurate inventory control, and preventing wastage. Through your leadership, you ensure a clean, safe, and well-organized engine environment, promote safe working practices, and contribute to the overall reliability and operational excellence of the vessel.
Your Journey So Far
• Fluent in spoken English (company working language).
• Proven experience in the same position or in a similar supervisory Engine Department role on board a cruise ship.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role in the maritime industry is strongly preferred.
• Secondary school diploma and relevant technical qualifications related to marine engineering or engine operations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and supervisory skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced shipboard environment.
• Solid knowledge of engine maintenance procedures, safety standards, and inventory control.
• Experience in supervising engine ratings and coordinating maintenance activities is considered an advantage.
Your Essentials
• Full compliance with Flag State requirements and valid seafarer documentation, including Seaman’s Book and relevant visas.
• Strong understanding of safety, environmental, and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to participate in emergency drills and safety procedures as required.
• Physically fit and able to perform duties in an engine room environment.
