Your Purpose
We are pleased to be hiring for an Interior & Exterior Outfitting – Deck, Safety & Public Spaces Specialist to support safety inspections, deck outfitting, resin inspections, and the Hotel Public Spaces Department during the final stages of ship construction.
This role plays a key part in ensuring the quality, functionality, and readiness of outfitting systems and finishes, including safety insulation, safety networks, deck and open deck equipment, resin flooring applications, and public space outfitting, ensuring all work is delivered in line with ship delivery milestones and operational standards.
Your Impact
- Participates in the execution of planned/assigned inspections in coordination with the team, and shipyard representatives.
- Ensures inspections are carried out according to schedule and aligned with project milestones.
- Performs regular walkthrough inspections of outfitting works related to:
- Safety insulation and safety networks
- Deck outfitting systems and equipment.
- Open deck installations and resin floor applications
- Interior and exterior Hotel Public areas (during the final construction phases)
- Ensures that all works are executed in full compliance with:
- Approved technical specifications.
- Construction and detailed drawings
- Installation and testing procedures
- Applicable safety regulations and quality standards
- Prepares a weekly detailed inspection report, highlighting any detected non-conformities or defects.
- Coordinates with Lead Managers to ensure that corrective actions are implemented and verified.
- Maintains ongoing communication with the Lead Managers, Site team, shipyard representatives, and classification societies to support progress and completion of activities in line with delivery targets. This includes daily interface with internal departments and participation to weekly alignment meetings.
Your Journey so far
- In-depth knowledge of outfitting activities and materials, including safety insulation, safety networks, deck equipment, resin floor systems, and interior/exterior public spaces. Ability to interpret and apply technical specifications, installation drawings, and construction procedures.
- Familiarity with international maritime safety regulations (e.g., SOLAS, IMO, class rules) and their practical application in ship construction. Ability to verify compliance and raise non-conformities when required.
- Solid experience in performing inspections, recording findings, and verifying that works are executed in compliance with approved technical documentation. Ability to prepare detailed inspection reports and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ability to assess on-site challenges and deviations, propose effective technical solutions, and support issue resolution in a time-sensitive construction environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, planners, subcontractors, and classification society representatives.
- Clear and professional communication (written and verbal), with the ability to report on technical findings and interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Italian or French is considered an asset.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple inspection and follow-up activities in a fast-paced shipyard environment, particularly during key project milestones (e.g., sea trials, delivery preparation).
- Strong focus on precision and quality, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving defects before handover.
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work extended hours when needed, especially in critical delivery phases.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams). Ability to work with inspection tracking tools and digital reporting systems is a plus.
