Your Purpose

The Landscape Manager assists in managing the daily operations of all grounds activities within best organic practices and protocols. This includes identification, diagnosis and recommendations with regard to tree, turf, and shrub health within the organically managed system. The Landscape Manager works with landscape architects, contractors, arborists, turf technicians, irrigation specialists, machine operators, and staff to provide oversight of the maintenance of the existing landscape of specimen trees, irrigation system, turf, meadows and woodlands and assists in providing direction and supervision for all landscape assets.
This role is based on our private island reserve, Ocean Cay, with staff accommodation provided. 

Your Impact

• Create reports to maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.

• Daily ready the campus for guests. 

• Perform hands-on tasks related to native meadow/understory management including planting, tree removals, trimming, pruning, fertilizing, watering and implementing an exotic invasive eradication plan. • Supervise crews on job site.

• Open and clear communication with OC Personnel via phone calls, email or in person.

• Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to original plans and specifications of OC Leadership.

• May be asked to create documents on Microsoft Word & Excel.
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
• Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
• Frequent repetitive motions.
• Continuous standing and walking.

Your Journey so far

• Fluent English, verbal and written. Knowledge of any other core language is an advantage.
• High School diploma and GED required.
• At least 18 years of age and in good health with no physical limitations, including vision.

• 2 years of experience with relatable field work.
• Knowledge of tools, methods and materials pertaining to an all-organic grounds maintenance program.

• Comprehensive experience in landscape management, public gardens, or outdoor facilities management.

 • Educational and practical experience in aspects of tree care, landscape management, native plants and meadow establishment, invasive weed identification and organic control.

• Exemplary project management skills.

• Experience managing and motivating a diverse team.

• Hands-on approach to leadership.

• Experience making independent decisions within a larger strategic plan.

• Ability to talk to guests, staff, contractors, and others with passion and positivity.

• Familiarity with the safe operation of heavy equipment, hand and power tools, and other products unique to the trade.

• Ability to assist with seasonal off-hours emergencies as needed.

• Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills. 

  •  Excellent interpersonal skills and a Guest-focused mindset.
