Your Purpose

The Landscaping Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Landscaping Department and ensuring that all landscaped areas, gardens, lawns, trees, plants, pathways, and outdoor spaces are maintained to the highest standards.

The position provides hands-on leadership to the Landscaping team, coordinates daily work activities, monitors quality and productivity, manages equipment and supplies, and ensures compliance with company health, safety, environmental, and operational standards.

The Landscaping Supervisor is expected to lead by example, develop team members, identify areas requiring improvement, and ensure that the overall appearance of the property consistently meets the company's standards.  This position is based on the private island reserve, Ocean Cay, with staff accommodation provided. 

Your Impact

Landscaping Operations

  • Oversee the daily maintenance of lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and other landscaped areas.
  • Ensure lawns are properly mowed, edged, trimmed, fertilized, and maintained.
  • Coordinate planting, pruning, trimming, mulching, transplanting, and replacement of plants.
  • Monitor irrigation and watering requirements.
  • Inspect plants and landscaped areas for disease, pests, damage, or other conditions requiring attention.
  • Ensure landscaping areas are free from debris, weeds, litter, and other visible deficiencies.
  • Coordinate landscaping activities for special events, projects, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure guest-facing areas receive priority attention and consistently present a clean and attractive appearance.

Daily Inspections and Quality Control

  • Conduct daily inspections of assigned landscaping areas.
  • Identify maintenance deficiencies and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Monitor the quality and completion of work performed by employees and contractors.
  • Ensure established landscaping standards and schedules are followed.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of inspections, completed work, and outstanding issues.
  • Escalate significant operational concerns to the Manager or Department Head.

 Equipment, Tools and Supplies

  • Ensure landscaping equipment, tools, vehicles, and machinery are used safely and appropriately.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report defects or maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained, and properly stored.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of plants, fertilizers, soil, mulch, tools, PPE, and other landscaping materials.
  • Monitor the use of supplies to minimize waste and unnecessary expenditure.
  • Submit requests for replacement equipment, tools, and supplies as required.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained before operating equipment or machinery.

 

Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure all landscaping activities comply with company health and safety requirements.
  • Conduct and promote safe working practices within the department.

Scheduling and Work Planning

 

  • Assist with developing daily, weekly, and seasonal landscaping schedules.
  • Prioritize work based on operational requirements, weather conditions, property needs, and guest impact.
  • Coordinate manpower and resources to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Adjust schedules as required to respond to emergencies or changing operational priorities.
  • Communicate schedule changes and operational requirements effectively to team members.

Communication and Reporting

Your Journey so far

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certificate, diploma, or formal training in Horticulture, Landscaping, Agriculture, Grounds Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in landscaping, horticulture, grounds maintenance, or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory or team-lead experience required.
  • Experience in a resort, hotel, commercial property, or large-scale landscaping operation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of tropical plants, trees, shrubs, and landscaping practices is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of irrigation systems and lawn maintenance.
  • Experience operating and maintaining landscaping equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Work in hot, humid, windy, and changing weather conditions.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical activities.
  • Lift, carry, and move landscaping materials and equipment.
  • Operate hand tools and landscaping machinery.
  • Perform hands-on landscaping duties when operationally required.
