Sailor Motorman (river cruise ship)

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and monitoring all machines – facilities and equipment
• Reporting all noted problems or damages immediately to the Captain on duty
• Independently conducting routine work (oil changes, any kind of maintenance)
• Monitoring and checking waste water tanks
• Maintaining and storing all technical material, such as tools, air filters, light bulbs, etc. (expendable items)
• Maintaining a clean and safe engine room, free of safety hazards
• Placing orders for expendable items in cooperation with the Captain
• Monitoring the supply and quality of the drinking water (sampling and testing the water)
• Maintaining the engine room log
• Maintaining daily entries of the levels of gasoil, lubricating oil and hydraulic oil
• Maintaining daily entries in the engine maintenance book (temperatures, pressures and operating hours)
• Maintaining a repair log for parts that were exchanged, and ensuring that the Captain receives a copy
• Replacing all necessary parts: indicating type and order number
• Assisting with all maneuvers during docking and departure
• Putting up and securing the gangway

Qualifications

• Written and spoken English & German
• Register of Service as an engineer on the river Rhine or Danube / tributaries
• Work experience in a similar position within the shipping industry
