Location: At Sea
Salary: EUR 6,900
Hours: 3 months on and 2 months off during the first contract then 3 months on and 3 months off thereafter

3R Global are currently looking for a highly motivated, experienced and passionate Staff Captain to join one of the most modern and eco -friendly fleets in the world.

What you will be doing:

• As Staff Captain you will assume command in case of absence or incapacity of the Captain and will be deputy of the Captain 
• You will be responsible for the general maintenance upkeep of the external structure, all ballast- and freshwater tanks, cofferdams and void spaces, deck fixtures, fittings, lifting gear, moorings, crew accommodation and public crew areas, forecastle, Bosun and Carpenter workshops and storerooms.
• You will also look after daily operation of the Deck Department.
• As Staff Captain you will be responsible for the bridge operation in compliance with the function based BRM System and the watch organization.
• You will be supervising the Voyage Planning and Execution and ensure all Deck Officers are aware of their obligations.
• As Staff Captain you will be responsible for the general safety of the ship.
• You will familiarise yourself at any time regarding all relevant navigational and other matters of major importance.
• As Staff Captain you will also step up and give appropriate advice to the Captain if, in his/her opinion, the ship is in, or is likely to fall into, a condition of risk from whatever cause.
• You will be responsible for the performance of drills and trainings in close collaboration with the safety officer.
• As Staff Captain you will be Chairman of the HESS Committee, Rounds and respective meetings.
• You will be appointed Stability Officer (cannot be delegated) and will be responsible for the upkeep of a stable condition at sea and in port and the seaworthiness of the ship. In this role you will perform calculations and positive reporting. Ensure watertight integrity incl. appropriate operational procedures are ensured and will look after the training of all nautical and technical officers in respect of stability.
• As Staff Captain you will be responsible for the sufficient and economic planning, bunkering, production and sanitation of fresh water
• You will be responsible for the preparedness of the ship (incl. its appliances), the crew and passengers in respect of emergencies and abandonment.
• As Staff Captain you will be responsible to manage whatever kind of arising crisis or emergency in close cooperation with the Captain
• You will also act as Compliance Officer.
• As Staff Captain you will ensure all Ship Certificates are valid and surveys are ordered and conducted in a timely manner to comply with external (e.g. International, Flag, Class, Port State, USCG) and internal requirements.
• You will work in close collaboration with the security officer

What you’ll need:

• Cruise Vessel experience (1500 passengers minimum)
• Track record as nautical officer in a management position on board cruise ships or as Captain on board cargo ships
• Completed studies or technical school in nautical sciences Pref. Diploma or Master degree
• Manoeuvring record
• Leadership & managerial skills
• Mediation skills
• Profound understanding of Bridge Resource Management
• Stress resilience
