Job Description

Position Title: Onboard Cruise Consultant (Shipboard Position)
Department: Hotel
Position Reports To: Hotel General Manager & Senior Director of Guest Services

Summary:

The objective of the OCC (Onboard Cruise Consultant) is to promote and sell future Windstar Cruises to guests while they are sailing on their current cruise. The OCC actively meets, socializes and interacts with guests while they are on their cruise to promote the sale(s) of a future cruise and all aspects of the Windstar products to these guests. The OCC works with the Seaware system to book cruises and other Windstar products/services and coordinates with the Seattle Guest Services department. The OCC is responsible to be familiar and proficient with all current and available pricing and promo details, as well as our ships, destinations and itineraries that support effective sales of cruises. The OCC will complete all aspects of the cruise sales, booking and processing of the sales they make, including follow up with guests and required reporting. The OCC will also be responsible to perform periodic assigned ship related duties as directed by the ships Hotel Manager or designate.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sell cruises, transfers, hotels, Pre-Post land Tours and shore excursions to our guests on ship
  • Sell and record Future Cruise Deposits to guests on ship
  • Facilitate reservations (bookings) in Seaware to assure accuracy timely processing
  • Prepare onboard plans and facilitate guest events, meetings and social events focused on selling cruises, including sales presentation preparations, coordination and presenting
  • Effectively coordinate activities with the ships staff to assure smooth and effective work
  • Process reservations, revisions and cancellations using reservation Seaware system
  • Process reservations paperwork for all aspects of the booking process
  • Demonstrate a strong functional knowledge of the Windstar product
  • Monitor bookings from option period through follow-up on payment requirements
  • Complete and forward required accounting paperwork to adjust reservations
  • Adhere to company policy and procedure
  • Advise supervisor of all problems in a timely manner
  • Effectively perform ship based duties as assigned by the ships Hotel Manager or designate
  • Adhere to perform all shipboard safety and security requirements as assigned on ship
  • Organize responsibilities to ensure completion and compliance with standards
  • Achieve Sales results to plan, per voyage, Monthly, Annually
  • Support performance management system and attend all mandatory onboard meetings.
  • Performs and manages other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience on ship is a preferred prerequisite
  • A minimum of two (2) years sales experience and six (6) months of employment with WSC
  • Cruise, travel or hotel related field experience preferred
  • Must be able to communicate in writing and verbally with professionalism, credibility and confidence
  • Strong belief in personalized customer service, with strong interpersonal abilities
  • Must demonstrate an enthusiastic and professional approach to all responsibilities
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including long hours and split shifts
  • Strong ability to relate to people in a positive sales approach, building trust and reliability
  • Willing to accept responsibility for compliance with policy and procedure
  • Crew Contractor Schedule 4-Months On-Duty / 2-Months Off-Duty(vacation), Rotation  

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Onboard crew contractor position aboard ship. General office environment work is required from time to time. Moderate noise. Flexible hours with split shifts and extended hours. Perform ships emergency and safety duties.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship, in a 4/5* Hotel or in an Upscale Restaurant.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
