The Chief Electrical Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of the electrical plan and associated electrical systems onboard the vessel and ensuring that all systems are properly operated and maintained in accordance with the applicable regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities

  • The Chief Electrical Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the electrical plant and associated electrical systems
  • The Chief Electrical Engineer should initiate and support maintenance optimization and improvements
  • The Chief Electrical Engineer shall ensure that the electrical plant and all associated systems are properly operated and maintained in accordance with the applicable regulations and company standards. The installation must at all times be in compliance with the regulations
  • The Chief Electrical Engineer is Responsible for all aspects of refit/Dry-dock/repair specifications for electrical systems, Risk Assessments, work permits, preparation, job execution and reporting
  • Ensure that the entire electrical plant and all electrical associated systems are properly operated and maintained in accordance with the applicable regulations: 
  • Electrical installations must at all times be in compliance with the technical regulations (e.g. SOLAS, USCG, USPH, Class Requirements etc.). All electrical equipment and machinery on board, as well running and operation of the high voltage installations shall be in compliance with the safety regulations.
  • Work closely with Chief Electronic Engineer on other electronic issues when needed
  • Accountable for the supervision of the electrical staff. Ensure maximum efficiency in the performance of the electrical staff by suggesting methods to improve their efficiency, productivity and performance

Hiring Requirements

  • Diploma from a recognized and approved Maritime Technical College or an Advanced Certificate from Maritime Vocational School or institution, in Marine Electrical Automation Engineering or Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent
  • Certificate of Competency as ETO III/6 and certifications according to the current STCW including the latest Amendments of the Convention
  • Excellent communication skills in addition to a strong command of the English language
  • Solid computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, etc.
  • Good knowledge of AMOS Maintenance System
