We are currently recruiting for experienced Guarantee Engineer for the SAGA New Build cruise vessel - SPIRIT OF DISCOVERY
Start date = ASAP
Salary = GBP/per annum - to be discussed upon interview
Working days = 200 days
Contract = Permanent


Essential: To have sailed or work in a senior technical role on board a passenger ship with the respective qualifications for the substantive rank

Desirable: New build experience Working knowledge of computerised planned maintenance systems Prior management of a guarantee process

Appointed by V.Ships Leisure (UK), the Guarantee Engineer (GTE) will report to the Saga New Build team, Ships Technical Superintendent and cooperate with the on board Senior Management Team. The GTE is required to manage the ship's guarantee process during the warranty period - this being usually one year from the hand-over of the ship from the builder however there are additional periods on specific equipment that need to be incorporated.

Roles and responsibilities:

* Cooperation with Ship's Management, Deck, Technical and Hotel Officers during the Guarantee period by administrating and processing Guarantee Failure Reports (GFRs) and keep the ship's Technical Superintendent informed of ongoing and agreed developments at all times. * To manage outstanding issues remaining from built after the hand-over of the ship - Protocol of Delivery - ensuring developments and agreed actions in cooperation with the ship Management and Superintendent. * The GTE is the manager of the GFR process, in charge of raising GFRs from information provided by ship's staff covering all departments of the ship as well as identifying any issues which have not been completed to contractual specifications. * Working with the ship's Officers and the Technical Stores Manager ensure that defect equipment parts are replaced under warranty during this period and not costed to normal operational spares budgets. * Submit raised GFRs on a regular basis to the builder for corrective action, copied to V.Ships Technical Management and Saga New Build team to ensure main defects are considered in future builds. * Technical Management ashore and on board Senior Management to be kept fully updated with the guarantee progress on a regular basis. Reporting protocol to be defined. * Maintain a good working relationship with the builder's warranty department to ensure that maximum cooperation from the builders and the various suppliers. * Ensure the V.Ships raised Purchase Orders covering guarantee issues are duly documented, costed and reimbursed by the builder during the guarantee process. * Liaise with V.Ships Technical department ashore to arrange cabin accommodation and security passes for any contractors / technicians required to attend the ship in the course of guarantee interventions. * Ensure that contractors attending and sailing with the ship adhere to standards set by the Owners and Managers * Ensure that all defect parts are collected, tagged and held for return to the builder as required to ensure replacement parts are supplied under guarantee. Process to be defined. * Ensure that the guarantee process is kept up to date when service interventions have been completed and replacement parts received. Records are to be maintained within ShipSure. Attend as required Guarantee Meetings held with the Builder's guarantee department representatives to close and agree GFRs following agreement on any costs incurred by the use of ship's officers/ crew in the completion of claims and any other Company costs. * Work closely with the ship's Technical Stores Manager (TSM) to ensure that the guarantee process covers replacement spares used during this period. Coordinate with the TSM the return of defect items to the builder by the least cost means. * The GTE may be required to hold a Supernumerary position with no assigned duties other than assisting in an Emergency as instructed by on board management.

Other: Attend passenger social events as directed by the Head of Department.  Partake in inspections, trainings and meetings as directed by the Head of Department.  Other shipboard tasks pertaining to departmental operations as directed by Head of Department.  Attending trainings and office visits arranged by V.Ships where possible
