Port Operation Officer (m/f/d)

Job Objective and Key Accountabilities:

• Manages the efficient port operation of all assigned ships.
• Obtains competitive pro-forma disbursement accounts for port charges.
• Appoints and evaluates agents
• Arranges / books berths, transits (canals, special sailing areas) and pilots where pre-booking is required, such as in Norway, Great Barrier Reef etc.
• Checks with agents for specific requirements, such as visa, specific port or trading requirements.
• Supports the Marine Superintendents in the development of itineraries
• Keep records of agents and itineraries
• Keeps fleet up to date and liaises with the ships for port operational matters
• Reviews final disbursement accounts
• Supports accounting with bookings of disbursement accounts
• Prepares in cooperation with the Marines Superintendent of the port operations budget and provides it to the Fleet Manager / Director Finance
• Provides owners and the Marine Superintendents with support in ad hoc operational matters ( e.g. re-routing of of the ship).

Requirements

• A recognized Diploma or Degree, preferably with shipping background.
• 2 years in a junior level position within a maritime services company
• Preferably experience in cruise shipping sector
• 2 years of sailing experience or experience in a port agency or a similar position preferred.
