Chief Fireman

We are pleased to announce that we are looking to hire a Chief Fireman for the Deck Department, working for the BSMCruise managed vessels.

Your responsibility will include, but will not be limited to:

Main Responsibilities:

Lead team of firemen
Inspection and maintenance (under supervision of SafO) of:
Life-saving appliances
Fire-fighting equipment.
Gangways, accommodation ladders, pilot ladders and pontoon arrangements
Tender platforms
Safety markings and signage
Fire squad leader.
Enclosed space entry preparation
Training of Firemen
Monitoring of regular fire patrols
Compliance with safe working practices
Speaking up and/or stopping work when unsafe practices or conditions are identified.
Compliance with BSM’s SMS and international standards and regulations

Supervise and assist with:

Pilot ladder preparation and deployment
Fire safety supervision of Hot Work
Emergency training and drills on deck

Assist with:

Maintenance planning as assigned by the SafO.
Compliance with applicable Permits to Work with SafO

Other duties and responsibilities:

Fire squad leader in emergency response team.
Ship security duties.
Environmental compliance
Participate in emergency training and drills on deck.
Report any non-conformities or defects.
Keep and promote high standards of discipline and behaviour.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Master, SafO or OOW

Key Attributes:
• Previous shipboard experience or relevant experience in similar position
• Fluent in English – must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Flexibility – must be able to work various times of the day, remain calm under pressure and have a can-do attitude
• Employee focused with a positive personality and professional attitude
