Security Officer

We are seeking an experienced and highly professional Security Officer to join our team aboard our luxury cruise ship. The Security Officer plays a key role in maintaining the safety and security of the ship, its passengers, and crew while providing leadership within the security department. This position requires strong organizational skills, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of maritime security operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the ship’s security team, ensuring all security personnel perform their duties effectively and in accordance with company policies and international maritime regulations.
- Monitor and manage the ship's security systems, including access control, CCTV, and alarm systems, ensuring they function properly at all times.
- Conduct security briefings for passengers and crew, outlining protocols and procedures for emergency situations.
- Oversee inspections of passenger and crew baggage during embarkation and disembarkation, ensuring compliance with security procedures.
- Coordinate and conduct regular security drills and trainings for the ship’s crew, ensuring preparedness for potential security threats or emergency situations.
- Collaborate closely with other department heads, including the ship’s Master and Safety Officer, to develop and maintain comprehensive security and safety plans.
- Respond to and manage onboard security incidents, providing professional and timely assistance, including investigations and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security) Code, company policies, and maritime law, particularly during port visits.
- Maintain detailed records of security activities and incidents, preparing reports as required by senior management and relevant authorities.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a senior security role, ideally in a maritime, hospitality, or law enforcement environment.
- Valid STCW certificates, including Security Awareness and Seafarers with Designated Security Duties, SSO certificate.
- Strong knowledge of international maritime security protocols, including the ISPS Code.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to oversee and mentor security personnel.
- Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (Spanish is an asset).
- Strong ability to remain calm and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Valid passport and seafarer’s medical certificate.

Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience working as a Security Officer or similar role onboard a cruise ship or large passenger vessel.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, including emergency response, first aid, and crowd management.
