The Role: We seek a talented and experienced 'Staff Captain'.
Description Brief: The Staff Captain is the head of the Deck Department and the Master’s deputy, and is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel by understanding and applying relevant rules, regulations, codes, and guidelines, and being fully conversant with the Company’s Safety Management System.
Your duties include overseeing the maintenance and condition of operations equipment, identifying potential ship hazards, and advising the Master accordingly. You will instruct junior officers and ratings on procedures, notify the Master of any defects affecting ship safety or the marine environment, and assign specific roles to deck officers or ratings. Additionally, you will investigate non-conformance issues, act as the Ship Security Officer, manage the ship’s stability, and inspect and maintain deck equipment. You will also train Deck Cadets, participate in Safety Committee and Management Meetings, ensure compliance with Sanitation & Public Health procedures, maintain all ship keys, administer disciplinary procedures, and oversee the operation of the Medical Centre.

- Master Unlimited Certificate of Competency.
- All other statutory certificates commensurate as per Company Training & Certification Matrix.
- Experience working with modern integrated bridge systems, azimuth and conventional propulsion.
- Valid STCW Medical with no limitations.
- Seafarers Book of own nation or Bahamas.
- Passport valid for at least 6 months.
- Ability to acquire US C1D and or any other Visa if required.
