Position Overview

As a Laundry Operator on board MSC Cruises, you will be part of a team responsible for ensuring all guest garments, crew uniforms, and hotel linens are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard. You will operate professional laundry equipment, follow company hygiene and safety protocols, and help provide a seamless onboard experience for guests and crew alike.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate washing machines, dryers, dry-cleaning equipment, and ironing machines
• Ensure all items are cleaned according to fabric care guidelines and company procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and order in laundry areas
• Inspect laundry items and machines regularly, report malfunctions to the Laundry Supervisor
• Support with embarkation/disembarkation laundry processes
• Adhere to hygiene standards, especially when handling potentially contaminated materials
• Assist with training and onboarding of new laundry staff
• Wear a proper uniform and maintain professional appearance at all times
• Respect scheduled shifts and attend all departmental meetings

Requirements

• Minimum 12 months of experience in a professional laundry setting (cruise ship or hotel preferred)
• Basic understanding of laundry processes and equipment operation
• Knowledge of fabric care, sorting, and stain removal techniques
• Good physical condition and ability to work in a fast-paced, hot environment
• English – minimum A2 level (spoken and written); knowledge of other languages (Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German) is an advantage
• Basic Safety Training Certificate (including swimming & rowing)
• Familiarity with smartphones, basic IT tools (Windows), and inventory systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team
• Methodical, detail-oriented, and able to stay calm under pressure
