V.Ships Leisure is looking for Cafe Attendant on behalf of Azamara Cruises.
The Café Attendant delivers high standards of service within our food and beverage (F&B) venues, maintaining consistent positive guest and team interactions in accordance with Azamara Cruises STAR and Go Further programs. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the assigned stations in different outlets, collects and delivers food and beverages, monitors buffet services, prepares & maintains or replenishes condiments, as directed. 
  • Sets up and maintains all self-service buffet areas, ensuring that each item is labelled correctly; assists with food service behind the line, if or when instructed. 
  • Provides support to the Waiters and Assistant Waiters. 
  • Serves beverages during meal periods, as instructed by Supervisors, following Servsafe policies at all times. 
  • Ensures that all service quality standards, in the assigned area, are delivered as trained by managers and meets guest expectations. 
  • Applies Service Standards; cleans work areas and operating equipment in accordance with company SOPs. 
  • Prepares and performs F&B activities (i.e. cocktail parties) and special events, as assigned. 
  • Ensures assigned areas are set up in accordance with the company SOPs.  
  • Minimizes equipment loss or damage, and maintains immaculate cleanliness standards in relevant areas, by applying safe working policies and procedures, in accord with all Public Health Policies
  • Ensures that all equipment is sanitized and returned after each use accordingly; cleans & polishes equipment, glassware and flatware. 
  • Ensures mise-en-place for all areas of responsibility are prepared 15 minutes prior to service. 
  • Partakes in embarkation duties as required. 
  • Provides the highest level of comfort and sales-oriented service to our guests and consistently maintains an impeccable standard of cleanliness and hygiene in assigned areas in alignment with Public Health Standards and Policies. 
  • Ensures always wears the appropriate and task specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for each duty undertaken onboard. Always uses correct lifting techniques to prevent injuries. 
  • Ensures grooming and uniform standards are followed at all times. 
  • Ensures that company property is appropriately secured and protected, especially during rough weather conditions, in order to prevent unnecessary loss or damage. 
  • Demonstrates flexibility in being able to work at different times of the day, under pressure and reflects a positive can-do attitude. 
  • Maintains knowledge about itinerary-related ports of call, shore excursions and shipboard activities such as guest events, entertainment and programs. 
  • Demonstrates strong motivation to achieve the company goals and objectives (quality and financial) for the Restaurant Department. 
  • Possesses full knowledge of safety & security procedures and can operate in line with all Public Health, Environmental and Safety & Security Policies; actively participates in all onboard training, safety & security, fire prevention, evacuation exercises as required by the company. 
  • Take ownership of the assigned areas of responsibilities in any F&B outlet, according to direction from the relevant Supervisors and Managers. 
  • Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required.
  • Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.
  • This position is responsible for cost containment through the proper use, handling and maintenance of records, reports, supplies and equipment.


Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years restaurant-related experience (shipboard experience preferred), or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Completion of high school, vocational school or basic education equivalency required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret documents such as recipes and manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, tips, proportions, percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Completion of a minimum of two contracts as a Mess Attendant with a performance rating of proficient or above, along with demonstrated customer service skills.
  • No disciplinary action on file for the last 12 months.
  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures.
  • This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
  • Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French or German is preferred. 
  • Required: All STCW trainings, C1/D visa, and Seaman’s Book.
