OVERVIEW
The Hair Stylist’s primary responsibility is to provide the highest quality of professional hair treatments in order to consistently exceed Resident’s and Guest’s expectations. This position works together with the Spa Team to ensure the smooth running of the Spa operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Spa Operations
- Provide hair treatments and styling, hair color, bleaching, highlighting, cutting, blow drying, permanent straightening treatments and barbering services.
- Recognize potential contra-indications and act accordingly based on Company guidelines.
- Ensure correct set-up of all Spa areas, including Reception, Spa Retail Area, Relaxation Area, Aqua Spa and Changing Rooms.
- Man the SPA reception desk and operate SPA software system (SpaSoft) as necessary.
- Provide relevant professional advice on homecare treatments and products.
- Ensure the opening and closing of the Spa is conducted in accordance with the Spa protocols.
- Conduct inventories as requested by the Spa Management.
- Ensure adequate professional and retail supply for hair treatments are maintained onboard trough stock orders.
- Ensure treatments are administered according to Spa protocols.
Resident and Guest Services
- Exceed Resident and Guest expectations in every aspect of personalized service in accordance with Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) standards.
- Acknowledge Residents’ preferences and ensure all changes are communicated to the Spa team and records are updated in the SPA operating software (SpaSoft).
- Maintain knowledge of all SPA retail products, SPA services and advise Residents and Guests accordingly.
- Submit new ICANs based on Residents’ feedback.
General
- Assist with the training and on-the-job familiarization of new Spa team members and participate in the buddy program.
- Actively participate in Company training courses as and when required.
- Actively support the Spa goals & objectives and initiatives.
- Maintain accurate Time & Attendance Records for each time period worked.
- Ensure all areas are maintained in accordance with Public Health, Safety Management System (SMS) and Safety & Environmental regulations, adhering to Company Policies and procedures as appropriate to the position.
- Execute safety duties as per the Emergency Plan and Station Bill.
- Assist with Ship tours, Zodiac landings, Marina days, Expeditions, and other activities when required.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Able to read, write and speak fluently in English.
- High school diploma preferred.
- Graduate from an accredited hair school with 4 years’ apprenticeship.
- Certified Barber or an equivalent of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience on a luxury cruise ship, private country club or similar, luxury hotel or resort.
- One additional language is preferred.
- Good computer skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of point of sales systems, inventory management systems, computerized reservation systems e.g., Fidelio etc.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
- Ability to work seven (7) days a week for an extended period, including day or night, weekends and holidays.
- While performing the essential functions of this job, all Crew are required to stand, walk long distances on the Ship and may include the repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down the stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms.
- All Team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
- Work within different temperature changes - indoors to outdoors.
- Ability to pass STCW safety course.
- Able to live harmoniously in close quarters.
