Assistant Executive Housekeeper needed for Sea Chefs!

Deputizing responsibility for efficient and professional workflows in the housekeeping department, including laundry, onboard tailoring, florists, crew areas ("back of the house"), and minibars, along with associated administrative tasks in close cooperation with the Hotel Manager.

  • Deputizing responsibility for the cleanliness and maintenance of all passenger cabins, public areas and facilities, housekeeping pantries, cleaning and linen lockers, officers’ and staff cabins, as well as "back of the house areas".

  • Strict monitoring and training to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and hygiene regulations (USPH/HACCP, ISM/&ISO, SQM, TUIC service standards) within the area of responsibility.

  • Regular inspections (together with the Executive Housekeeper) of guest cabins, public areas, pantries and lockers, and officers’ and crew areas for cleanliness, repairs, safety, and standards, with documentation.

  • Monitoring and ensuring the implementation of defined standards throughout the housekeeping department.

  • Monitoring, implementation, and assurance of safe, professional, economical, and hygienic storage of materials.

  • Preparation, review, and forwarding of food, beverage, and hotel store orders for the area of responsibility according to budget and other guidelines.

  • Authority to issue instructions to all employees within the area of responsibility.

  • Close cooperation with the Executive Housekeeper, including regular reporting; immediate handling (and written reporting) of conflicts and workflow disruptions.

  • Point of contact for passengers in case of problems/complaints related to housekeeping.

  • Implementation, guidance, and availability of logs and checklists in accordance with guidelines; regular monitoring.

  • Leadership, assignment, instruction, and training of subordinate employees with appropriate documentation.

  • Staff scheduling and duty planning.

  • Review and monitoring of inventory movements and ordering processes within the area of responsibility.

  • Planning, execution, control, and evaluation of internal departmental inventories.

  • During pre-opening phases, during ship takeovers, shipyard periods, equipment installation, and the start of operations, additional tasks must be undertaken as instructed.

  • Active implementation of the product philosophy in relation to hotel operations.

  • Continuous optimization and further development of workflows and standards, including contributions to manuals and guidelines.

  • Careful handling of company property and maintenance of work materials and equipment.

  • Monitoring and enforcement of internal shipboard rules within the area of responsibility.

    Qualifications / Experience
  • Qualified training in the hotel industry

  • Several years of experience as an Assistant Executive Housekeeper or Executive Housekeeper in a larger hotel operation, preferably on board a cruise ship

  • Strong business management knowledge, especially in inventory management

  • Budget-oriented working practices

  • Excellent knowledge of all cleaning procedures, cleaning products, chemicals, and their safe storage, especially regarding USPH standards

  • Ability to present and analyze business performance targets

  • Fluent German (spoken and written)

  • Fluent English (spoken and written)

  • High level of service orientation towards guests and staff

  • Experience in complaint management

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Very good general education

  • Deputizing responsibility and authority for all operational and service processes in the housekeeping department

  • Deputy technical and personnel supervisor of all staff in the housekeeping department

     

  • Work Experience Requirements

    All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship, in a 4/5* Hotel or in an Upscale Restaurant.

    Language Requirements

    Good knowledge of the English language is required.
