The Vessel
REV Ocean is unlike any other ship. It is equipped with some of the most sophisticated facilities onboard for carrying out cutting-edge ocean science, as well as offering charter opportunities designed to integrate exploration, adventure, and science. REV Ocean will operate as a research vessel for 2/3 of the year and be available for charters for 1/3 of the year.
We are looking for experienced ETO ( Electro-Technical Officer) for REV OCEAN as follows:
- Joining Date: 27/October/2025
- Wage: in USD/month worked + NIS flag benefits provided by the Owner
- Contract Length: 4 weeks on/off
- ETO Certificate is mandatory - STCW Reg.III/6
The Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) is a senior Engineering Officer, who, along with the Chief Engineer, will be responsible for maintaining, managing, and repairing the technical systems on board. The ETO will also work closely with the Science Department and assist in science systems and technical integrations throughout the ship.
Competency Requirements
The ETO must have the competency as required by REV Ocean Operational Department’s competence matrix.
Line of Reporting
Report to the Chief Engineer.
Safety Duties:
- Participates in crew safety drills according to instructions.
- Must always comply with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.
- Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others.
- Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly. Delivering training, guidance and supervision on how to use and maintain them where necessary.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Valid STCW certification.
- Valid CoC A-III/6.
- Appropriate certification as required by regulations.
- Extensive experience in subordinate positions and on board passenger ships in a similar role
- Physically and medically fit.
- Moral integrity is required.
- Public Health, Sanitation and Environmental training courses are appreciated.
- Proficient in reading and understanding technical drawings and manuals.
Language requirements:
Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial.
Computer knowledge:
Good working knowledge of AMOS and Microsoft applications.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Required to stand, walk long distances, reaching and sitting. Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders. Lifting or pushing of up to 50lbs. The position requires overtime work and irregular schedules. Works in the Engine Control Room, Engine spaces with noise, light traffic, distracting environments.

Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities and duties include:
· Comply with the ‘Standing orders of the Chief Engineer’.
· Support the Captain in ensuring the ship’s compliance with company policies and procedures as well as international, state, or local maritime regulations.
· Support the Captain in ensuring the ship’s compliance with International Safety Management (ISM), classification society rules, and Maritime Insurance, within his/her area of responsibility.
· Support the Captain in achieving REV Objectives (safety, quality and environmental).
· Be familiar with emergency procedures. Ensure emergency duties and requirements are understood as per the Emergency Plan and be prepared to assist as required in emergency situations.
· Be aware of QHSE in all tasks and operations and report any issues, discrepancies, accidents, or incidents immediately to the bridge.
· Respond to service requests from all departments and efficiently trouble shoot and repair electrical and technical systems.
· Operate and maintain the ships' electrical systems including refrigeration units, detectors, and alarm systems. Including preventative maintenance on a regular schedule.
· Together with the Chief Engineer, assume the overall responsibility for the ship’s electrical systems.
· Assist the Chief Engineer in the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all on board machinery and equipment, as and when required.
· Assist the AV/IT responsible in the day-to-day maintenance of all electronic, computer and communications equipment on board. This equipment will include, but is not limited to, the GMDSS radio and satellite communications, radar, sounders, gyros, bridge console integration and display systems, crew VHF/UHF radios, and other communication and navigation systems, telephones and digital telephone exchange, internet, LAN and Wi-Fi, ship’s computers, TV, DVD networks and electronic management systems linked to the equipment on board.
· Assist the Chief Engineer in managing contractors as required and assist with installations and wiring to expand infrastructure when required.
· Maintain records and manage spare parts, inventories, and stores for electrical and technical equipment.
· Conduct testing and assessment of new and in-use systems as required. Perform repairs if required or arrange for contractors.
· Ensuring all electrical records, manuals and technical drawings are updated and maintained correctly.
· Carry out the role of onboard contact for cyber security if required.
· Manage generic AV/ IT subscriptions for the vessel if required.
· Provide support and assistance for charter guests in terms of electronic devices, technical systems and connections when requested.
· Provide support and assistance for science personnel in terms of electronic devices, technical systems and connections if required.
