Shop Manager – Onboard International Cruise Ships

Location: Onboard international cruise ships
Contract Type: Fixed-term (5 months ±1 month)
Start Date: To be determined (after completion of mandatory STCW training)
Accommodation: Single cabin, full board provided
Salary: €2,773 gross monthly base + €1,350 monthly bonus
Travel: Paid by the employer (to and from the vessel)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Shop Manager to lead the onboard retail operation on our international cruise ships. In this role, you will manage a multicultural team, ensure smooth day-to-day shop operations, and deliver exceptional guest experiences through outstanding sales and service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the onboard retail team and oversee the overall operation of shops and exhibition areas.
  • Achieve sales and service targets while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with visual merchandising and marketing standards.
  • Coordinate loading/unloading operations and stock replenishment.
  • Build strong relationships with guests, onboard departments, and shore-based teams.
  • Lead, train, and motivate a diverse retail team of attendants, specialists, and supervisors.
  • Prepare sales reports, voyage summaries, and analyze guest feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with international customs regulations and onboard policies.

Requirements

  • Previous retail management experience is required.
  • Proven experience in a dynamic retail environment, preferably in fashion, luxury, or duty-free settings.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a multicultural team.
  • Excellent organizational skills, accountability, and goal orientation.
  • Solid knowledge of sales techniques and visual merchandising.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering outstanding service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS systems.
  • Fluent in English (minimum B2 level).
  • Proficiency in at least one additional European language (Italian, French, German, or Spanish) at B2 level.
  • Availability to live and work onboard for 5 months at a time.
  • Willingness to complete the mandatory 10-day STCW safety training (in your passport country).

Employment Terms

  • Base Salary: €2,773 gross/month
  • Bonus: €1,350 gross/month
  • Working Hours: 7 days a week, 8–11 hours per day (split shifts)
  • Contract Duration: 5 months (±1 month)
  • STCW Course: Mandatory before embarkation (cost reimbursed after first contract)
