Job Title: Shop Manager – International Cruise Line

Location: Onboard various international cruise ships
Contract: Fixed-term (approx. 5 months ±1 month)
Start Date: To be confirmed (after completing mandatory STCW training)
Working Schedule: 7 days per week, 8–11 hours daily, divided into 2–3 shifts
Accommodation: Private cabin with full board

Position Summary

The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the ship’s retail departments, guiding a diverse sales team, and maintaining an excellent shopping experience for guests. This position blends leadership, sales management, and operational responsibilities within a truly international setting.

Main Duties

  1. Lead and supervise the onboard retail staff, including sales associates, specialists, and supervisors
  2. Deliver sales goals and maintain top-tier guest service
  3. Ensure proper visual presentation and adherence to marketing guidelines
  4. Coordinate stock handling, including loading, unloading, and replenishment
  5. Build rapport with guests and collaborate closely with shipboard and shore-based teams
  6. Train, mentor, and motivate a multicultural team
  7. Prepare sales reports, voyage overviews, and guest feedback analyses
  8. Ensure compliance with customs regulations and ship policies

Candidate Profile

  1. Proven experience in a fast-paced retail environment with team leadership responsibilities
  2. Prior experience working on cruise ships is required
  3. Strong customer service orientation and confident sales abilities
  4. Practical knowledge of sales strategies and visual merchandising
  5. Highly organized, reliable, and driven to meet targets
  6. Strong leadership and communication skills, especially in multicultural settings
  7. Proactive, entrepreneurial approach with a focus on enhancing the guest experience
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS systems
  9. Fluent English (B2 level)
  10. B2-level proficiency in at least one additional European language (Italian, French, German, or Spanish)
  11. Ability to live and work onboard for the full duration of the contract
  12. Willingness to complete mandatory 10-day STCW safety training in your passport country
