About the Role
We’re currently seeking a dedicated German International Host/Hostess to join a leading international cruise line. In this guest-facing position, you’ll act as the key point of reference for German-speaking guests, removing language barriers and ensuring they feel supported, understood, and fully immersed in their cruise experience. Your communication skills and cultural awareness will play a vital role in guest satisfaction and overall onboard quality.

Your Life On Board
As a German International Host/Hostess, you'll ensure that German-speaking guests enjoy seamless communication throughout their journey. Whether translating materials, supporting guests during events, or providing language assistance during important moments, your presence will help guests feel welcomed and cared for.

Key Responsibilities

• Create Exceptional Guest Experiences
• Manage and translate daily written materials—such as menus, flyers, and the cruise program—ensuring accurate and engaging content in German.
• Organize and deliver informative presentations, including embarkation talks and end-of-cruise briefings.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for German-speaking guests during public events, hospitality desks, embarkation, disembarkation, and, when possible, during tours.
• Build rapport with guests, gather feedback, and identify opportunities to enhance their onboard experience.
• Communication & Guest Support
• Provide translation assistance during medical emergencies, illnesses, or medical disembarkations, accompanying guests to the onboard infirmary or shore-side medical facilities when required.
• Support onboard revenue areas through clear communication and promotion, contributing to guest satisfaction and commercial success.
• Make major voice announcements for guests—including safety announcements—both live and pre-recorded.
• Manage guest complaints using the appropriate reporting systems, notifying relevant departments and supervisors to ensure swift and effective resolution.
• Safety First
• Contribute to a strong onboard safety culture by actively following and supporting all safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain professionalism and calm communication during safety drills and real situations, ensuring guests receive accurate and reassuring information.

What We’re Looking For

• Secondary school education in Tourism or Humanities.
• At least 6 months’ experience in the tourism sector (e.g., reception, guest services, tour escorting).
• Excellent proficiency in German and English (C1 level or higher).
• Confidence in public speaking and strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Enthusiastic, guest-focused, and solutions-oriented mindset.
• Sales skills are an advantage.
