POSITION SUMMARY
 Directly responsible for the level 1 support of all onboard computer systems. This
includes installing and configuring new PC system hardware, upgrading existing
hardware, and supporting mobile devices.
 The Asst IT Officer works closely with the IT Manager onboard to ensure all systems
perform at optimum levels.
 Be able to share and participate in decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Area of responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
 IT Network Infrastructure – monitor the hardware and software resources,
connectivity, communication and operations of the entire network.
 Physical and Virtual Servers – monitor the servers at all time. Protects data, software
and hardware from failures.
 Domain Controller – monitor and create username and change password.
 Officer 365 – Change outlook password, help users by providing instructions and best
practices.
 E-Band and Starlink Communications – Monitor closely for optimal performance of
the system.

Property Management System (OHC) – manage the system from terminal check-in,
security gangway and guest and crew handling and users support.
 Point of Sales (ePOS) – handles workstations and users. Includes repair and
troubleshooting of workstations and printer.
 Wi-Fi Mesh Network – manage, troubleshoot and repair wireless access points for
optimal performance and coverage.
 Guest and Crew Internet Café – maintain internet connection and WiFi coverage for
guests and crew at all times.
 VoIP System – Manage Cisco IP phones. Includes programming and repair of the
mobile devices.
 Casino Table and Slots Software (Wigos) – Help with network connections.
 Help and train users to new procedures and technology onboard.
 To work effectively and efficiently with co-workers and other departments.
 Attend all department and inter-departmental meetings.
 Mandatory attendance of all shipboard drills and emergency activities.
 Attends the parties and other social events as assigned by department head.
 Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and carry out
the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.
 Performs related duties as required. This position description in no way states or

job related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.

 

DIMENSIONS
 Must be able to execute decision-making properly to solve the problem by thinking
ahead and correct planning.
 Always have contingency plan for system failures, internet downtime, data loss,
cyber security and threats.
 Must be able to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using
documentation or internet resources.

 

NATURE AND SCOPE
 Strives to exceed guest satisfaction and continually looks for ways to improve the
infrastructures onboard for guest and company suitability.
 Maintains a good working relationship and open communication with all departments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
 Applicants must have strong customer service skills with the ability to work on
multiple tasks; proficiency in the use of computer business applications with
working knowledge of PC / LAN systems, hardware and software applications
 Knowledgeable to network devices and appliance such as routers, switches,
controllers, wireless access points and firewalls.
 a minimum of two years’ experience in areas of user support and troubleshooting
hardware and software issues; the ability to meet deadlines and maintain attention
to detail and accuracy while working in a team environment
 Additional requirements include the ability to meet deadlines and maintain an

environment, excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Ability to lift and carry IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Current CompTIA A+ 220-801 Certification, technical school certification, or three
or more years of equivalent work experience is strongly preferred.

EDUCATION
 In addition to some level of technical experience, Asst IT Manager is required to have
at least a bachelor's degree education in IT, preferably with well-rounded major such
as computer science, information technology or management information systems.
