DESTINATION COORDINATOR
Joining date: 16th January 2026
Contract: 3/3 months (+/-1)
Job Scope: Destination speaker and adviser
Reporting to: Entertainment Manager
Responsible for: all aspects of destination information and events
Role Overview:
To be a key resource for the residents, providing information relating to the destinations and ports of call on the ship's itinerary. To deliver destination insights, travel tips and information about places of interest. To be a confident and proficient presenter with exceptional social skills. To liaise regularly with the residents regarding the destinations acting as a consultant and expert adviser providing information requested.
Specific Responsibilities:
- To create and deliver accurate and engaging presentations about the upcoming ports of call covering cultural highlights, historical significance, local attractions and practical travel tips.
- To use multimedia tools and confidently produce professional PowerPoint presentations with high quality images and maps. Create resident handouts about the ports.
- To diligently research and provide up-to-date information about all the ports of call including the places of significant interest with details of opening times, costs and accessibility. To also have local knowledge of taxi fares, opening hours, retail outlets, and general helpful information.
- To answer residents' questions about destinations advising about local tours and occasionally accompanying residents with shoreside walks and tours.
- To socialise with the residents and facilitate and conduct informal interactions and group discussions.
- To assist the Entertainment Manager with on-board events and activities as required and act as deputy in the event the Entertainment Manager is not available.
- To host, co-host or assist with trivia quizzes or gameshows as required.
- To liaise and meet with departmental heads on-board regarding destination and port activities.
- To participate in fire, safety and lifeboat drills as required and directed.
- To attend all Departmental, Senior Management and Captain's meetings that may be required.
- To carry out all performance responsibilities to the high standard expected by PEEL.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by PEEL.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to engage large audiences.
- In-depth knowledge of destinations on the cruise itinerary, or a willingness to research and learn quickly.
- Experience in travel, tourism, or related fields (preferred).
- Proficiency in using presentation software and multimedia tools including PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft programs.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment onboard a ship.
- STCW and medical certificates as required by the ship.
