RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the instructions and guidance of the Engine Storekeeper, will assist in:

  • Updating consumption log sheet on designated stores and encoding orders through AMOS Stock wanted list for technical parts and consumables.
  • Maintaining an orderly and efficient storage system, continuous updating of spare parts inventory to maintain accuracy, including materials and consumables.
  • Receiving all stores for both deck and engine departments, ensuring all parts are labeled correctly and placed in their designated area.
  • Scheduled inventory control of spare parts groups versus the AMOS stock control.
  • Ensuring all parts are correctly labeled recorded and preserved and stowed.
  • Ensuring safe stowage of chemicals and flammable stores, ensuring MSDS and PPE are in order.
  • Securing of stores in preparation for rough weather.
  • Maintain stores in clean orderly state at all times.
  • Be familiar with the Safety Management System and have a full understanding of his/her responsibilities in the Safety Organization as per the Emergency Plan.
  • Report any defects or deficiencies immediately to Engine Storekeeper.
  • Be familiar with safe operation of equipment.
  • To be available for call out outside normal duty hours.
  • Other additional duties as assigned.
  • Familiarization Forms.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • STCW III/1 Watch keeping Certificate of Competency a plus but not required.
  • Experience with AMOS a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to work 7 days a week for a minimum period for extended period of time.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, taste and smell.  All vessel positions require repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms.  This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • All team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
  • Assist with zodiac landings, Marina days and Expeditions when required.
  • Work within different temperature changes—indoors to outdoors.
  • Able to pass basic safety course.
