Deck Steward for Swan Hellenic Cruises

V.Ships Leisure is looking for Deck Steward on behalf of Swan Hellenic Cruises.

Key Responsibilities

• Adherence to the company’s health and hygiene standards in line with the acceptable Public Health Sanitation Programs and EU SHIPSAN procedures.
• Ensuring the safe operation and working practice of the Restaurant Department and any related matters affecting the safety of the ship, guests, and crew.
• Keeping the Head waiter or Bartender on duty promptly and fully informed of any occurrence which might affect the navigation of the ship or the safety of persons onboard and/or the quality of services offered to guests.
• Liaise with other departments for the coordination of Restaurant Department activities and to ensure a smooth operation.
• Ensuring welfare and discipline of all members of the Restaurant Department he/she is to ensure that all officers in the department are aware of their social obligations whilst in guest public areas.
• Reporting defects or malfunctions of safety equipment and appliances e.g., expired or empty fire extinguishers, defective fire doors, broken or missing lifejackets, broken fire buttons, safety posters missing, etc.
• Participating fully in safety drills and statutory inspections commensurate to the role and as per Company policies and procedures.
• Ensuring departmental compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention directive on working hours.
• Supporting the Restaurant Department team in applying correct security measures.
• Other safety responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above.
• Environmental stewardship is central to this role and the entire operation of the ship. This role will engage in, comply with and promote all environmental regulations and policies, actively working with the Restaurant team and guests to promote sustainability and protection of the environment in all aspects of life on board.
• Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the pool area and Jacuzzi including the furniture, garbage bins, ashtrays etc.
• Ensure the ship's rules and regulations for the pool and Jacuzzi are followed.
• Report any incidents, accidents or near accidents to Head Waiter or Bartender on duty.
• If any guest refuses to follow the ship's water pool and Jacuzzi rules and regulations, he/she shall immediately report to Housekeeping Manager.
• Is knowledgeable on responding to near drowning cases and the usage of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Provide courteous service to the guests and if any complaints encountered, solve them immediately and if unable to do so, report to Public Area Supervisor for assistance.
• Keep all pantry and supply closets cleaned and stocked at all times.
• Check if there is an adequate storage of fresh pool towels.
• Conduct proper inventory to safeguard for wastage, loss and shortage.
• Complete requisition forms for supplies needed.
• Report maintenance deficiencies that require immediate attention and follow up status.
• Report to the Head Waiter or Bartender on duty any loss or damage of furniture, fixtures and equipment.
• Maintain a logbook to record significant events and activities during shifts.
• Complete a weekly report.
• Report and turn over any items left by guests to reception.
• If no pool assignments are required, report back to Head Waiter for further assignments.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

• Valid STCW certificates
• Seamans Book
• Ship Experience
