URGENT NEED
As a Tattoo Artist, you will use specialized tools to apply permanent designs to the skin using non-toxic ink. You may create tattoos of their own design or apply tattoos in designs requested by clients. You must possess thorough knowledge of the skin and body and have excellent practical techniques, cleanliness and sanitation skills. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge.
In addition to tattooing, the artist will assist in other onboard revenue areas, including the spa, photo desk, gift shop, and shore excursions when tattoo services are not in demand. The Tattoo Artist will also conduct art classes for guests as part of their responsibilities.
Mandatory Documentation and Qualifications:
• Proof of formal, hands-on tattoo training — This may include a recognized tattoo school certificate or documented evidence of a completed in-person studio apprenticeship.
• A professional portfolio showcasing practical tattooing experience, including completed work performed on real clients.
• Current Bloodborne Pathogens Certification in accordance with industry and safety standards.
• Vaccination records, including all required standard immunizations as well as a minimum of two doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine (three doses are strongly recommended and considered standard practice within the industry).
Essential Functions:
• Conduct thorough consultations with guests to understand their tattoo ideas, preferences, and placement requests.
• Provide expert advice on tattoo design, size, color, and style.
Create custom designs or adapt existing designs to meet client specifications.
• Perform tattoo applications with precision and artistry, ensuring client comfort and safety.
• Maintain a clean and sterile work environment, following all sanitation protocols and health regulations.
• Provide clients with detailed aftercare instructions and ensure their understanding of proper tattoo care.
• Properly sterilize equipment, dispose of contaminated materials, and uphold strict hygiene standards.
• Manage tattoo equipment and supplies, ensuring inventory is well-stocked and organized.
• Be punctual for shifts and appointments, ensuring timely and professional service.
• Maintain a positive and friendly demeanor, creating a welcoming environment for guests and colleagues.
• Contribute to a high-quality work environment through teamwork and open communication.
• Keep accurate records of client consultations and tattoo applications.
• Handle guest inquiries and concerns professionally and courteously.
• Maintain all assigned work areas in a clean and organized manner.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings to stay updated on company policies and procedures.
• Follow all shipboard and company sanitation and safety guidelines.
• Assist with stock and inventory management, ensuring cost controls are maintained.
Supporting Duties:
• Assist in other onboard revenue areas during non-busy tattoo hours, including:
• Spa: Cover reception desk duties.
• Photo Services: Assist at the reception desk.
• Gift Shop: Provide customer service as needed.
• Shore Excursions: Assist with bookings and guest inquiries.
• Conduct art classes for guests as part of the entertainment program.
• Promote tattoo services through onboard marketing, announcements, and social interactions.
Participate in onboard events to engage with guests and showcase artistic skills.
• Attend all assigned shipboard drills and emergency training.
• Ensure adherence to safety and environmental protection policies.
Qualifications:
• Candidates must hold and maintain a current, nationally recognized certification or registration as a tattoo artist, successfully complete a formal apprenticeship under a licensed professional, and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of hygiene and sterilization practices, ensuring compliance with professional standards and local laws in their country of practice.
• Customer service and/or sales training is an advantage.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum of two years of professional tattooing experience with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse styles and techniques.
• Hands-on experience in a tattoo parlor.
• Experience working in high-volume or tourist-oriented environments is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of tattoo equipment, inks, and aftercare procedures.
• Thorough understanding of hygiene, sterilization, and safety protocols.
• Passionate about hospitality and customer service.
• Must have a professional appearance and good hygiene.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to live in close quarters with limited space onboard the ship.
• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods while performing tattoo services.
• Ability to use hands and fingers with precision and dexterity.
• Visual acuity to perform detailed artistic work.
• Ability to walk long distances on the ship.
• Capability to work in varied temperature conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
• Must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills

• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests and crew.
• Ability to understand instructions given in English during emergency life saving procedures and drills.
• Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
• Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French or German preferred
