Bar Server

As a Bar Server, you will promote and provide beverage services throughout the ship to the guests. You will also improve and maintain sales. Responsible for keeping workstations clean, orderly and properly set with clean ashtrays and table tents (if applicable).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Check schedule for work assignment and times of duty. When reporting for duty, personnel must be at their position ten (10) minutes before the scheduled time. Once assigned a workstation or section in a lounge the Bar Server must be present for the entire shift.
• Ensure that station is properly cleaned before set up. The station must be fully set at all times with fruit containers, full ice bins and bar aide caddy. See that the tables have ashtrays and cocktail list.
• Ensure personal appearance, personal hygiene and uniform appearance are at all times in accordance with company policy.
• Check to see that tables are clean, orderly, and properly set, clean ashtrays and table tents.
• Greet guests by name and escort them to their seats when they enter the lounge or bar.
• Know the bar menu well and is able to explain and suggest drinks to guests.
• Never approach a table to take the order with dirty glasses on the tray.

REQUIEREMENTS:

• Minimum 21 years old
• Relevant ship experience is preferred
• Good level of English language
• Previous experience as a host in a luxury hotel or resort, convention center, public relations or in a related hospitality function.
• Completion of high school, vocational school or basic education equivalency required.
• Minimum of one year beverage-related experience (shipboard experience preferred), or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Completion of a minimum of one contract as Bar Back with a performance rating of satisfactory or above, along with demonstrated leadership skills.
• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests and crew.
• Ability to understand instructions given in English during emergency life saving procedures
  and drills.
