The Steward’s / Stewardess’ primary responsibility is to ensure that the daily service of all Residences is delivered to the highest standards of cleanliness and tidiness. This role delivers a very high level of personalized service in each apartment and must be courteous, friendly and able to address Residents’ and Guests’ needs and special requests.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Housekeeping Operations
- Provide housekeeping services to Residents and Guests (R&G), while observing their preferences and delivering the highest standards of cleaning as per The World Standards of Excellence and SOPs.
- Participate in disembarkation, turnaround and embarkation duties, welcome R&G and provide a personalized introduction to facilities and amenities.
- Provide evening turn down service as per Residents’ preferences.
- Manage requests such as packing/unpacking, tailor services, shoe polishing, collection and delivery of laundry.
- Provide efficient cleaning and sanitation of assigned areas according to Public Health regulations.
- Report promptly maintenance issues observed in the apartments and working corridors.
- Separate garbage and dispose properly.
- Prioritize and follow up on all R&G requests, ensuring Housekeeping Management is advised.
- Distribute onboard publications to Residences as per Residents’ preferences.
- Report lost and found items to Housekeeping Management and deliver to the Reception.
- Responsible for the security of the assigned master key while on duty.
- Conduct regular inventories, minimizing waste and breakage.
- Collect linens, towels, robes and amenities for apartments; return soiled items to the laundry.
Resident and Guest Services
- Exceed Resident and Guest expectations in every aspect of personalized service in accordance with Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) standards and participate in regular trainings.
- Acknowledge Resident preferences and ensure changes are communicated to Housekeeping Management and colleagues.
General
- Assist with welcoming, onboarding, orientating, and training of new colleagues.
- Actively support the goals and objectives for the department and adhere to all new policies and company initiatives as assigned.
- Maintain accurate Time & Attendance Records for each time period worked.
- Ensure all areas are maintained in accordance with Public Health, Safety Management System (SMS) and Safety & Environmental regulations; adhering to Company Policies and procedures as appropriate to the position.
- Execute safety duties as per the Emergency Plan and Station Bill.
- Ensure all empty apartments are properly secured at all times to avoid damage to Resident’s assets.
- Assist with Ship tours, Zodiac landings, Marina days, Expeditions, and other activities when required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to read, write and speak fluently in English.
- High School Diploma or Degree within Hospitality Industry preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience as a Housekeeping Steward / Stewardess, Room Attendant or similar position on a luxury cruise ship, private country club or similar, luxury hotel or resort.
- One additional language is preferred.
- Good computer skills to include point of sales systems (MICROS).
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
- Ability to work seven (7) days a week for an extended period, including day or night, weekends, and holidays.
- While performing the essential functions of this job, all Crew are required to stand, walk long distances on the Ship and may include the repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down the stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms.
- All Team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
- Work within different temperature changes - indoors to outdoors.
- Ability to pass STCW safety course.
- Able to live harmoniously in close quarters.
