  • Position Overview

The Public Health Officer serves as the company's onboard public health expert, ensuring compliance with international public health regulations, vessel sanitation standards, and company policies. The role focuses on disease prevention and control, sanitation compliance, food safety, water quality management, audits, inspections, outbreak preparedness, and crew training.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee infection prevention and control programs, AGE, and other communicable diseases.
Participate in the Outbreak Management Team and coordinate outbreak response activities.
Support illness investigations, contact tracing, quarantine, and isolation measures.
Monitor PPE, disinfectants, sanitizers, and infection-control supplies.
Prepare public health reports and communicate findings to shipboard and shoreside leadership.

Ensure compliance with company public health policies and international vessel sanitation standards.
Monitor food safety, potable water, recreational water facilities, sanitation, and environmental health programs.
Coordinate corrective actions with Hotel, Technical, and Deck departments.
Liaise with public health inspectors and health authorities during inspections and audits.

Conduct regular audits and inspections of onboard operations.
Identify public health risks, trends, and compliance gaps.
Provide recommendations, coaching, and corrective action plans.
Monitor follow-up actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Deliver public health training programs for crew members.
Identify training needs through audits and trend analysis.
Support the development and standardization of public health training materials and best practices.


Requirements
Degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Sanitary Engineering, Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience implementing, managing, or auditing public health programs.
Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices and vessel sanitation standards.
Cruise ship experience is preferred but not required.
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
Good command of English.
