About the Role

This position involves living and working onboard a luxury cruise ship for six months at a time, managing an international art program.

Working closely with the Gallery Director and Principal Auctioneer, the successful candidate will operate an onboard gallery displaying a massive collection of world-class fine art.

The primary focus is to drive high-volume sales, educate guests, and run live onboard auctions in a fast-paced environment

What the reality of this position looks like:

  • Active gallery management and sales generation: You will spend long hours on your feet curating, setting up, and refreshing heavy art displays across high-traffic areas of the ship to actively capture guest interest. You are expected to independently drive the entire consultative sales process, from initiating high-energy conversations with guests to closing deals and completing invoices.
  • High-pressure event execution and teamwork: You will collaborate tightly with the onboard team to coordinate and execute high-stakes live art auctions, educational seminars, and VIP exhibitions. This requires balancing the physical logistics of moving artwork safely with the public speaking confidence needed to entertain and present to large, diverse audiences.
  • Continuous marketing and performance evaluation: Your daily routine revolves around maintaining an intense promotional mindset - constantly marketing the art collection, the onboard program, and yourself. Performance is tracked constantly, with formal monthly evaluations and daily feedback loops from the Principal Auctioneer to ensure strict sales targets are met.

Essential attributes and qualifications:

  • Experience: minimum of two years of verifiable sales and marketing experience is strictly required.
  • Technical & Systems: Intermediate to advanced level English verbal and writing skills, including proper grammatical usage, are mandatory. Candidates must possess strong public speaking capabilities and the ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) of equipment and supplies for physical display setups.
  • Core traits: An entrepreneurial mindset with a competitive drive, grit to handle hard physical work, and the ability to balance strict professionalism with an approachable, outgoing demeanor. Strong camaraderie and interpersonal skills are essential for thriving in a multicultural environment.

What is provided:

  • Package: Tax-free salary structure with regular promotional pathways to increase earning potential.
  • Living arrangements: Fully provided accommodation in a shared companion cabin onboard. Candidates must be comfortable living in close quarters and sharing limited space with cabin-mates.
  • Inclusions: All international flights, meals, uniform
  • Contract rotation: Provided upon direct consultation (typically 6-month shipboard contracts)
