Assistant Cruise Director

We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and guest-focused Assistant Cruise Director to support the delivery of exceptional onboard entertainment and guest experiences aboard a luxury cruise vessel.

This role works closely with the Cruise Director to plan, coordinate, and execute a diverse entertainment program while leading a multicultural team and ensuring the highest standards of service, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

 Leadership & Team Support

* Assist the Cruise Director in leading and supervising the entertainment department.
* Train, coach, and motivate team members to deliver outstanding guest service.
* Promote a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, grooming standards, and work/rest hour regulations.
* Be prepared to assume the responsibilities of the Cruise Director when required.

Entertainment & Activities

* Support the planning and delivery of a wide range of onboard entertainment, including:

* Production shows
* Daytime and evening activities
* Youth and sports programs
* Themed events and deck parties
* Live music performances
* Enrichment lectures
* Religious services
* Adapt entertainment schedules to operational changes and guest preferences.
* Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the onboard entertainment experience.

Guest Experience

* Maintain a visible presence throughout the vessel and actively engage with guests.
* Host events, make public announcements, and represent the entertainment department.
* Respond promptly and professionally to guest feedback and concerns.
* Provide guests with accurate information regarding daily activities and events.
* Host dining tables and build meaningful guest interactions to create memorable experiences.

Operations & Administration

* Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Entertainment Department.
* Prepare daily activity schedules, event timelines, and voyage reports.
* Maintain accurate records, including training documentation, performance evaluations, and administrative files.
* Support embarkation, disembarkation, and tour dispatch operations as required.
* Handle confidential information with discretion.

Financial & Resource Management

* Help manage departmental expenses while maintaining exceptional guest experiences.
* Monitor and maintain inventories of entertainment equipment and supplies.
* Process supply requisitions and promote responsible use of equipment to reduce loss and damage.

Compliance & Safety

* Ensure compliance with company policies, maritime regulations, and operational standards.
* Participate in safety drills, inspections, audits, and mandatory training.
* Conduct routine inspections of entertainment venues and equipment.
* Promote safe work practices and ensure all equipment is operated responsibly.

 Qualifications

* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar entertainment leadership role within the luxury hospitality or cruise industry.
* Bachelor's degree preferred.
* Physically and medically fit for shipboard employment.
* High level of professionalism, integrity, and personal accountability.

Language Requirements

* Fluent written and spoken English is essential.
* Additional language skills are considered an asset.

Technical Skills

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience with hospitality property management systems such as Fidelio is advantageous.
* Strong computer literacy.

Work Environment

This is a shipboard position requiring flexibility, adaptability, and a high level of guest interaction. The role involves standing and walking for extended periods, climbing stairs, lifting or moving equipment up to 50 lbs (23 kg), and working evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular schedules.

 

 

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship.
