The Nail Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide the highest quality of professional nail treatments in order to consistently exceed Resident and Guest expectations.  This position works together with the Spa Team to ensure the smooth running of the Spa operation.

Responsibilities

Spa Operations-

  • Provide high-quality manicure and pedicure services in line with industry standards and trends, based on client preferences
  • Provide nail treatments, including but not limited to classic manicures and pedicures, Shellac manicures and pedicures, paraffin wax treatments and nails to be extended with tips or forms using gel or acrylic formulas
  • Evaluate the condition of R&G nails and advise them on proper nail care and suitable nail care treatments
  • Sanitize all nail instruments and equipment before each use
  • Keep workstations clean and neat
  • Recognize potential contra-indications and act accordingly based on Company guidelines
  • Ensure set up of all Spa areas, including Reception, Spa Retail Area, Relaxation Area, Aqua Spa and Changing Rooms
  • Man the SPA reception desk and operate SPA software system (SpaSoft) as necessary
  • Provide relevant professional advice on homecare treatments and products
  • Ensure the opening and closing of the Spa is conducted in accordance with the Spa protocols
  • Conduct inventories as requested by the Spa Management
  • Ensure adequate professional and retail supply for hair treatments are maintained onboard trough stock orders
  • Ensure treatments are administered according to Spa protocols

Resident and Guest Services-

  • Exceed Resident and Guest expectations in every aspect of personalized service in accordance with Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) standards
  • Acknowledge Residents’ preferences and ensure all changes are communicated to the Spa team and records are updated in the SPA operating software (SpaSoft)
  • Maintain knowledge of all SPA retail products, SPA services and advise Residents and Guests accordingly
  • Submit new ICANs based on Residents’ feedback

General-

  • Assist with the training and on-the-job familiarization of new Spa team members and participate in the buddy program
  • Actively participate in Company trainings as and when required
  • Actively support the Spa goals & objectives and initiatives
  • Maintain accurate Time & Attendance Records for each time period worked
  • Ensure all areas are maintained in accordance with Public Health, Safety Management System
  • (SMS) and Safety & Environmental regulations, adhering to Company Policies and procedures as
  • appropriate to the position
  • Execute safety duties as per the Emergency Plan and Station Bill
  • Assist with Ship tours, Zodiac landings, Marina days, Expeditions, and other activities when required

Skills & Abilities

  • Able to read, write and speak fluently in English
  • High school diploma preferred
  • Graduated from an accredited Nail Technician School Acrylic, Sculpting Gel and Gel Polish accredited certification preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience on a luxury cruise ship, private country club or similar, luxury hotel or resort
  • One additional language is preferred
  • Good computer skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of point of sales systems, inventory management systems, computerized reservation systems e.g. Fidelio etc

Physical Conditions

  • Ability to work seven (7) days a week for an extended period, including day or night, weekends and holidays.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, all Crew are required to stand, walk long distances on the Ship and may include the repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down the stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms.
  • All Team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
  • Work within different temperature changes - indoors to outdoors.
  • Ability to pass STCW safety course.
  • Able to live harmoniously in close quarters.
