About the role:
The Broadcast Technician is responsible for the complete operation of the shipboard broadcast centre, delivering high-quality televised content and media coverage across a passenger vessel catering to over 3,000 guests. Working in a dynamic, multi-cultural environment, this role ensures all guest events, televised satellite feeds, and daily onboard channels run seamlessly throughout the voyage.
What the reality of this position looks like:
- Rigging and capturing dynamic live events across the ship, from sail-away parties to high-energy game shows, ensuring camera setups and projection feeds are fully prepped 30 minutes prior to doors opening.
- Coordinating directly with the Communications Officer to establish stable satellite feeds and precise broadcast coordinates, while working in tandem with the Cruise Director to align daily event filming.
- Managing continuous daily channel schedules, including passenger and crew movies, maintaining the digital information channels, and ensuring all broadcast hardware remains securely logged, maintained, and inventoried.
Essential attributes and qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of two years in TV, broadcasting industry, or an equivalent media role within the cruise industry. A portfolio or demo reel demonstrating past video production work is required.
- Technical & systems: Proficient knowledge of HD/SD broadcast systems, Mini-DV camera operation, and video deck setups. Working knowledge of Final Cut Studio, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and both Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Core traits: High level of personal resilience, strong technical troubleshooting abilities, adaptability to shifting schedules, and a genuine commitment to teamwork and shared living environments.
What is provided:
Package: $3,000.00 USD per month while onboard.
Living arrangements: Fully provided accommodation in a double shared cabin.
Contract rotation: 26 weeks onboard followed by 6 weeks leave.
