We are currently seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to join the luxury cruise vessel Orient Express Olympian and Orient Express Corinthian

  • Embarkation: 03/Sep/2026 on Corinthian and 01 April 2027 on Olympian
  • Contract: 6 months ±1 month

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Fitter on board cruise ships
  • All valid STCW certificates
  • Good command of English
  • Valid references and/or recommendations from previous employers

Description and Main Purpose of Job:

The HVAC Technician is a specialized day-work rating responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems onboard. Operating under the direct supervision of the Hotel Engineer (who retains overall responsibility for these systems), the technician ensures optimal climate control, provision cooling, guest comfort and performs any additional general technical duties as reasonably required.

Key Responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

HVAC Systems Maintenance: Operate, maintain, and repair the vessel's primary climate control systems, including Air Conditioning compressors (chillers), Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), and Self-Contained Units (SCUs) across all passengers, crew, and technical areas.
Refrigeration & Domestic Equipment: Ensure the continuous and safe operation of provision refrigeration plants (compressors and cold rooms), individual standalone fridges located throughout the vessel, and all ice-making machines.
Routine Rounds & Inspections: Conduct comprehensive daily inspection rounds and a detailed weekly (Sunday) round of all assigned machinery; log operational parameters, complete mandatory checklists, and promptly report any defects or abnormalities to the Hotel Engineer.
Emergency Response & On-Call: Remain constantly reachable via shipboard communication devices outside of normal working hours to provide immediate intervention for HVAC, refrigeration, or ventilation emergencies, including night-time call-outs.
Housekeeping & Maintenance Support: Execute regular cleaning and replacement of air filters, keep HVAC workshops and stores highly organized, and advise the Hotel Engineer when spare parts or refrigerant gases require replenishment.

Use correctly all work items provided by the Company, including personal protective equipment, in accordance with training and instructions 
Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health, safety, or welfare ·         
Abide by environmental protection rules and regulations and actively participate in the reduction, reuse, and recycling schemes in place All employees shall participate actively in all HSEQ activities and promote safe practices as part of an integrated management approach.
