Summary

Senior technical leader responsible for the management, maintenance, and reliability of all onboard electronic, communication, navigation, IT, and entertainment systems. Oversees the electronic engineering team, ensures regulatory compliance, supports cyber security initiatives, and provides technical support across vessel operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the electronic engineering department and daily operations.
  • Maintain and oversee all electronic, communication, navigation, safety, and security systems.
  • Work closely with electrical engineering, IT, and shore-based technical teams.
  • Ensure compliance with cyber security policies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage emergency communication systems, including GMDSS, and conduct required testing and maintenance.
  • Support and maintain:
    • Navigation and bridge electronics
    • Satellite communications and TV systems
    • Telephone, PA, radio, and internal communication networks
    • Servers, workstations, LAN, wireless networks, and business-critical software
    • CCTV, access control, alarms, and emergency systems
    • Audio-visual and entertainment systems
    • Interactive TV and information systems
  • Plan maintenance activities and manage spare parts inventory.
  • Administer maintenance management systems and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support to guests, residents, and onboard departments.
  • Report technical issues and coordinate shore-side support when required.
  • Support emergency response procedures and vessel safety operations.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Specialisation in areas such as communications, maritime electronics, computer systems, or audio-visual technology.
  • Relevant experience with electronic systems, preferably within maritime, offshore, or complex technical environments.
  • Electronic Technician, Radio/TV Technician, Electronic Engineering qualification, or equivalent.
  • GOC certification, GMDSS certification, and relevant STCW training.
