Relief Stage & Broadcast Manager

The Stage and Broadcast Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage and maintain all areas of audio-video, lights and photo production, film and editing, internal communication videos, and light and sound staging on board the vessel.  This position also looks after all the technical aspects of live entertainment and the audiovisual content for the onboard TV system.

RESPONSIBILITIES

OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT

Video Production

  • Supervise the filming, editing and broadcasting of the daily TV show by the Broadcast Assistant
  • Ensure relevant information is broadcast to the Resident community.
  • Develop content ideas and produce programs for the onboard television with onboard and off ship productions (film, edit and upload)
  • Film, edit and upload lectures, shows and performances onto onboard IPTV system
  • Produce video graphics for onboard productions.
  • Responsible for the video/audio broadcast of onboard produced entertainment, programming and operation of AV equipment in all Ship’s venues
  • Maintain all A/V equipment for maximum longevity and cleanliness
  • Submit work orders for repairs and liaise with the Electronic Department for technical issues
  • Assist with duplication of videos, DVDs and USBs for Residents and Guests within copyright limitations

Stage Production

  • Responsible for the set-up of AV equipment during presentations, lectures, meetings and events and for Resident and Guest functions
  • Operate sound, light, video and other technical equipment during lectures, shows and performances.
  • Provide technical support to Guests Lecturers, onboard Musicians and others as required
  • Supply and ensure smooth running of all Ship’s outlets background music, including restaurants, bars, lobby, theater and public areas
  • Operate the screening of movies in the theater.

Administrative Tasks

  • Submit required information for the quarterly report to the Program Manager
  • Submit information for on-board publications to the Editors.
  • Conduct inventories of all technical equipment in the Broadcast venues and ensure any deficiencies are recorded and repaired.
  • Develop, monitor and achieve company, department and divisional goals and objectives; effectively communicate operational updates through daily line ups and divisional meetings
  • Create / revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as needed.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends with a view to implementing onboard.

Resident and Guest Services

  • Exceed Resident and Guest expectations in every aspect of luxury service in accordance with Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) standards.
  • Continuously reviews the operation and make recommendations to enhance the product; follow up and resolve Resident and Guest issues; conduct regular in-depth inspections of all operational areas; submit AVOs and ICANs; follow up in ICANs relevant to the division.
  • Contribute to the development of the onboard product and our commitment to “bringing the destination alive” by creating and delivering events and experiences for Residents and Guests

General

  • Take charge of new hires onboarding, provide tour of working areas, introduction to the team, follow
  • up on new hire on-the-job training plan, review thoroughly job description with new hire and assist in their integration into the team.
  • Ensure the Time & Attendance Policy (ILO #180) is adhered to, and timesheets are closely reviewed daily to ensure accuracy of work and rest hours and overtime (if applicable) for all subordinates
  • Ensure all areas are maintained in accordance with Company policies, Public Health, Safety Management System (SMS) and Safety & Environmental regulations; execute policies and procedures as appropriate to the position; execute safety duties as per the Emergency Plan and Station Bill, participate in In Port Manning as required.
  • Assist with the set-up, decoration and breakdown of venues for events organized by the Program Division when required.
  • Assist with Ship tours, Zodiac landings, Marina days, Expeditions, and other activities as required.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Adhere to the hotel operating and revenue budgets.
  • Assist the Program Manager to create future budgets for any Stage and Broadcast equipment
  • Place orders according to the provisioning schedule and based on budgetary guidelines; maintain par stock levels; minimize waste and breakage
  • Monitor overtime and ensure team members are scheduled according to operational needs

  • Experienced videographer and photographer with demo reel available with a minimum 2 years of experience with photo – video editing and professional photo cameras (DSLR, Video Cameras, UAV, etc.)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as an AV Manager, Stage & Production Manager, Broadcast Manager or similar position on an ultra-luxury Cruise Ship, Private Club, ultra-luxury Hotel preferred
  • Operational Experience as Production Manager and/or AV Tech essential
  • Experienced videographer and photographer with demo reel available with a minimum 2 years of experience with photo – video editing and professional photo cameras
  • Basic knowledge of ship based TVRO systems and broadcast equipment.
  • Experience working with Lecturers and live video switching.
  • Strong people skills and a problem solving, ‘can do’ attitude
  • Knowledge of stage equipment and rigging included but not limited to:
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Final Cut Pro and Adobe Products such as Premiere, After Effects, for video production and Photoshop and Lightroom for photography
    • DVD Authorizing Software and iTunes.
    • Live broadcasting
    • Ship based broadcast equipment.
    • Satellite tuners and receivers
    • Band set-ups
    • Stage equipment and rigging, included but not limited to: cable patching, rack mounting, sound and light setup and programming, lighting kits and lighting control boards

    • Sound and mixing boards
    • Related electronic equipment for presentations, meetings and events.
    • Set up and operate audio, video and light equipment for live events.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Able to read, write and speak fluently in English
  • High Diploma preferred
  • Drone Pilot license preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an AV Manager, Stage & Production Manager, Broadcast Manager or similar position on an ultra-luxury Cruise Ship, Private Club, ultra-luxury Hotel preferred.
  • Operational Experience as Production Manager and/or AV Tech essential
  • One additional language (German, French, Italian, Spanish) preferred
  • Good computer skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of point of sales systems, inventory management systems, Fidelio and computerized reservation systems
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work seven (7) days a week for an extended period, including day or night, weekends and holidays.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, all Crew are required to stand, walk long distances on the Ship and may include the repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down the stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms.
  • All Team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
  • Work within different temperature changes – indoors to outdoors.
  • Ability to pass STCW safety course.
  • Able to live harmoniously in close quarters.
