Position Summary:

The HR Business Partner-Shipboard reports to the AVP Human Resources, Celebrity. In this role, the HRBP works with each shipboard HR manager, Marine/Hotel operations, and recruiters. The HRBP interviews candidates screened by recruiters; becomes involved in the scheduling process for new hires placement on vessels, and provides guidance on department restructuring. While in this role, the HRBP becomes involved in needs assessments, works with the training department to recommend training needs and the vessel's executive committee to make recommendations to improve performance management concerns. The HRBP interprets policy and works with shipboard HR managers to ensure compliance.

In addition, the HRBP provides guidance to develop and implement human resource strategies and programs. This role requires experience in all aspects of HR management, with a strong emphasis on employee relations, performance management, organizational development and effectiveness, employment law, training and development, and HR systems.

  • Works closely with the management of assigned business units to develop and implement organizational strategies that optimize the performance and overall effectiveness of human resources.
  • Manages human resources managers on board numerous ships to ensure projects, programs, and entire human resources organization staffing add value to the business and increase the performance of the management and employee population.
  • Uses JD Edwards E1, PeopleSoft and HRIS information systems to access and analyze data for reporting purposes based on client needs.
  • Works with Marine and Hotel operations to address officer behavior, makes recommendations and assesses training needs, recommends performance management or other steps to address issues.
  • Applies and interprets relevant data taken from HRIS to recommend solutions to HR Managers and executive committee on HR needs.
  • Reviews assessment results from Corvirtus recruiting program on candidates for hiring determinations.
  • Evaluates and investigates complaints made directly to Net Claims Ethics Compliance system.
  • Uses organizational development techniques to analyze workplace issues, recommend effective solutions, and collaborate with the business to implement those solutions.

Requirements:

  • Educational / Experience requirements: Bachelor degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university and six to ten years related HR experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have experience managing projects and implementing solutions, building credibility with business partners, and presenting information.
  • Must have experience in human resources management or consulting in a dynamic, highly complex international environment.
  • Able to demonstrate a successful record of accomplishments working with business partners at all levels.
  • This position is a shore side position supporting our shipboard staff.
  • Ability to travel from 40% to 60% of the time.
  • Possess the ability to bring strategic solutions to the business units that streamline and improve processes and performance.
  • Skilled at defining the organizational needs of the business units and making recommendations that improve the overall performance of the business unit.
  • Ability to communicate and present well at all levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of general shipboard functions on a cruise ship, and the general concept of the shipboard organization.
  • Working knowledge of applicable immigration and visa requirements related to seafarers in various geographical areas.
