1st Engineer

The 1st Engineer (often called the First Assistant Engineer) is the second-in-command of the Engine Department, directly assisting the Chief Engineer. They are typically responsible for the overall maintenance planning and coordination of repairs for all machinery. The 1st Engineer oversees the daily work schedules of the engineering officers and ratings, ensuring all technical operations run smoothly and safely.
