3rd Engineer

The 3rd Engineer (or Third Assistant Engineer) is a watch-keeping officer who often has specific responsibility for the ship's auxiliary machinery, such as generators, pumps, and purifying equipment. They perform system checks, routine maintenance, and assist senior officers during larger repairs. The 3rd Engineer is an important part of the rotational watch system in the engine control room.
