Able Seaman (AB)

The Able Seaman (AB) is a qualified member of the Deck Department, performing skilled maintenance tasks and holding a greater responsibility than an OS. An AB stands watch as a qualified lookout on the bridge to assist the officers, steers the vessel during navigation, and is directly involved in complex mooring, anchoring, and unmooring procedures. They are proficient in shipboard safety and emergency duties and are crucial to deck operations.
