Deck Cadet

The Deck Cadet is a trainee position for an aspiring Deck Officer, often a student from a maritime academy. They rotate through various areas of the Deck Department, assisting officers and ratings with navigational watches, maintenance, and safety drills. The Cadet learns practical seamanship skills and ship operations under supervision to gain the required experience for their licensing examinations.
