Barkeeper (river cruise ship)

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the entire bar and lounge area, including:
  • Implementation and maintaining of the company standards and budgets in the bar department
  • Daily set-up (mise-en-place)
  • Preparing and serving beverages in a professional manner, following predefined recipes and standards
  • Organizing, managing and motivating all bar waiters/bar waitresses
  • Ordering beverages in cooperation with the Maître d´hôtel, Hotel Manager
  • Organization of loading and checking of bar supplies
  • Storing of the bar stock and supplies
  • Proper handling of all beverages and food in the bar area, as well as all products and equipment in the bar department
  • Professional service of beverages and/or food in the bar, restaurant, lounge and on the sun deck
  • Maintaining cleanliness, tidiness and hygiene of the entire bar and lounge area, certain areas on the sun deck, back offices, pantries and work rooms
  • Cleaning of the bar glassware, china and cutlery
  • Monthly taking of the bar inventory as per company’s directives
  • Assisting with the loading of the ship’s supplies
  • Ensuring that all Bar Waiter/Bar Waitress are continuously trained
  • Implementation of the correct appearance, as well as the standard of personal hygiene of the Bar Waiter/Bar Waitress
  • Daily cashing-up of the revenue generated in the bar
  • Organization, realization and supervision of Food & Beverage activities
  • Assisting in the restaurant during meal times
• Performing various preparatory duties prior to and at the end of the season
• Assisting with luggage handling if necessary, as per supervisor’s directives
• Assisting in other departments if necessary, as per supervisor’s directives

Qualifications

• English and/or German spoken and written
• Bar training/bar course
• 1 year of professional experience in a comparable position
