Throughout our 80+ year history P&O Cruises has remained Australia’s most loved cruise line. As testament to our success in the Australian/New Zealand market we will soon be expanding our fleet from 3 to 5 ships.

As a result of expansion we are looking for several Restaurant Managers to commence during October, November and December 2015.

Our Restaurant Managers ensure that the restaurant operates efficiently and profitably while maintaining its reputation and ethos. That is, our managers are responsible for the business performance of their restaurant, as well as maintaining high standards of food, service, and health and safety.

Our Restaurant Managers are always available as a contact to all those working in the outlet, as well as for the guests regarding inquiries, complaints and suggestions to ensure satisfaction to both the internal and external customer. The Restaurant Manager will have full responsibility for the adherence of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), United States Public Health (USPH) and Health, Environment, Safety & Security (HESS).

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the entire operation of the restaurant during scheduled shifts
  • Responding to guest complaints and ensuring that satisfaction is the outcome
  • Meeting and greeting guests at the door and at the tables
  • Providing advice on selection from the menu and wine choice
  • Managing staff and providing them with performance feedback
  • Training and motivating staff making full use of the company’s customer service program
  • Ensuring that all employees adhere to the company's uniform standards

Requirements:

  • Experience in managing a restaurant team of at least 75+
  • Full understanding of United States Public Health (USPH) standards
  • Strong administrative skills, proficient in the use of MS Office suites and knowledge of hospitality programs i.e. Micros, Fidelio, Crunch-Time and SilverWare highly advantageous
  • Possess a great command of written English language both written and spoken
  • Cruise ship experience of medium to large restaurant size highly preferred
  • Hospitality Management certifications will be highly regarded
  • All international applicants must have the ability to obtain a medical clearance, possess a current unrestricted passport (valid for at least a year) and be eligible to apply for an Australian Maritime Crew Visa (MCV) and Australian Visitor Visa.

Contracts are for six months duration with two months leave in between assignments. The salary is competitive and accommodation, main meals, flights, transfers and a uniform are all supplied by the company.
