Captain for River Cruise Ships

The salary will be between € 3.000 - € 4.000,- gross, based on Dutch law. It is also possible to get a contract which is based on Cypriot law. The salary will be written down in net in this case.

Organisation (level):

Responsible for the nautical department, the nautical program and the maintenance on board of the ship. The Captain directly reports to the Nautical Manager and/or de Management and cooperates closely with the Hotel Manager on board.

Requierements:

• Secondary School
• Patent Rhine to Basel (possibly Danube Patent)
• Radar patent
• Good knowledge of and fluent in the Dutch language
• Excellent English or German speaking skills (and French if possible)
• Friendly appearance and in good health
• Flexible and enthusiastic
• Hard worker
• Willing to wear a uniform or work wear
• Preferably, a first aid certificate

Characteristic:

The function is a mix of policy and operational tasks. It requires flexibility, stress tolerance, competence and social skills. The Captain is the representative of the company. He/she is always correctly, conscientiously and shows competence. He/she charges the Nautical Department, but also takes care of the proper handling of passengers and crew. The captain is always responsible for the ship, the safety of the passengers and crew. He is, after the hotel manager, also responsible for the proper running of the office.

The Captain manages to the Nautical Department and may help them where needed. Above, he makes the schedules and takes care of the execution of the tasks or activities. He assists the Hotel Manager in the execution of his (her) duties if desired.

The Captain encourages a good working atmosphere on board, but also maintains discipline and observes the internal regulations and / or individual employment agreements.

He/she maintains contacts with passengers, acts as host to them - especially during the various receptions and special dinners.
