Position Summary:

 

Royal Caribbean Front-End Web Developer you will be responsible for coding, production, modification, and maintenance of enterprise-class websites for desktop and mobile. Focusing on the user-interface layer or front end, you will work closely with our user experience architects to bring their interaction design from the conceptual stage to full functioning clean and efficient code.  As the Front-End Web Developer you will be an integral member of the digital marketing department actively coding and developing the next generation of the Royal Caribbean website, Cruise Vacation Planning Portals, promotional landing pages, and mobile websites with the goal of driving engagement, loyalty, and ultimately sales conversion. Your work will be experienced by well over 50MM visitors a year and is essential in helping our consumers experience the ultimate vacation on the u201cbest overall cruise lineu201d as voted by Travel Weekly for the last 11 years.

 

The ideal candidate will deliver on our mission to deliver the brand as a service to drive customer lifetime value by creating an engaging online shopping experience unrivaled in the cruise vacation industry.  On a daily basis the Front-End Web Developer will work within an agile team with the main responsibility of coding the display layer / user interface of our digital products with semantic mark-up including HTML5 and CCS3. You'll also work closely with server-side developers to implement their server-side code in order to develop complex, interactive and database driven websites. This will require leveraging a deep knowledge of MVC frameworks, object-oriented programming techniques, and proficiency with JavaScript, DOM, and JavaScript frameworks. You must have extensive experience working in structured environments following defined development methodologies including client/server and multi-tiered design and development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Web Development or equivalent professional experience

  • 5 years of relevant experience in front-end web development

  • Mastery level experience of hand-coding languages including HTML, XHTML, CSS, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, JQuery, AJAX, JSON, DOM Scripting, XML/XSLT, W3C DOM methods and properties,

  • 5 years experience using Adobe Photoshop and other graphic editing tools for website development

  • Experience working with corporate, transaction based systems, content management systems, portal development and responsive web design

  • Experience with Scrum or another Agile methodology

  • Exposure to Service Oriented Architecture and Web Service development standards (SOAP, XML, WSDL) and developing in Spring and Hibernate frameworks

  • Experience with Adobe Flex and ActionScript, XML technologies like XSD, XSL, XPATH, and using standard development frameworks such as Hibernate, Spring, Axis2, Struts

  • Web Technologies : HTML, XHTML, CSS, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, JQuery, AJAX, JSON, DOM Scripting, XML/XSLT, W3C DOM methods and properties, Adobe Photoshop and other graphic editing tools

  • Thorough understanding of table-less page layout and positioning, developing cross-browser and cross-platform compatible solutions, and coding for Search Engine Optimization

  • Experience with template engines and web application frameworks : JSP, Velocity, JSF, etc

  • TSQL
