Female Sommelier

R.A.G. Safety & Marine is NOW LOOKING for a Female Sommelier for a 6 stars Cruise company.

5 1/2 months contract (renewable).

Education/Position Requirements

• College Degree/Diploma or Hotel School or other relevant apprenticeship in the food service industry required. 
• Minimum of three (3) years experience in a luxury international hotel property as a Sommelier or two (2) years experience in the luxury cruise ship industry as a Waiter or Bar Waiter with Wine experience preferred. 
• Must be willing to undergo "Court of Master Sommeliers" courses. 
• Very good spoken English (needs to score at least 80% in the onboard English proficiency test). 
• Good communication skills.
• Good product and beverage knowledge. 
• Must have very good organizational skills and show attention to detail. 
• Must undergo onboard USPH training. 
• Must have initiative and the ability to work independently. 
• Must be able to remain calm under pressure. 
• Must be service minded with an outgoing, charming and friendly personality.

Purpose Statement

• To greet Guests in a professional manner and to provide them with prompt, courteous and friendly service and to promote Wine sales in the Bistro, the Crystal Dining Room and Deck Buffets. 
• To maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in the Bistro, Wine Stations and Wine Cellars. 
• To do additional duties in other departments such as wheelchair assistance as necessary. 
• To provide a six star service to all Guests and to deal with complaints and comments in an efficient and timely manner. 

General Responsibilities

• To greet Guests in a professional manner and to provide them with prompt, courteous and friendly service in the Bistro, the Crystal Dining Room and Deck Buffets. 
• To assist the Head Sommelier in preparing for Wine Tasting Seminars with Celebrity Wine lecturers and Vintage Room dinners. 
• To set up the Vintage Room and to reset it again after dinner is over according to instructions from the Head Sommelier. 
• To ensure that Wine stations are set up properly with Wine lists, glasses and ice buckets. 
• To maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in the Bistro, Wine Stations and Wine Cellars, (according to schedule and instructions), following the detail of USPH standards at all times). 
• To follow the proper cleaning and maintenance procedures of equipment in Bars and Pantries at all times.
• To follow and execute the Shipboard Sanitation Program and to complete and update all Sanitation Log sheets as per policy. 
• To do additional duties in other departments such as wheelchair assistance as necessary. 
• To ensure that all equipment is properly and securely stored away when not on duty and to keep assigned area clean and tidy at all times. 
• To keep lockers organized, clean and tidy at all times and in accordance to safety rules and regulations. 
• To report work orders to their Supervisors when deficiencies are noted or when maintenance is required and to follow up on the work orders in a timely manner. 
• To complete a Work Registration Form correctly every month and to submit it to the Head Sommelier in a timely manner. 
• To adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures, Manuals and Directives. 
• Other responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above.

Financial Responsibilities

• Expected to exceed all relevant onboard revenue targets. 
• To be cost conscious with the use of cleaning materials, linen and other consumables. 
• To promote Wine sales in the Bistro, the Crystal Dining Room and Deck Buffets. 
• To keep crockery and glassware breakages to a minimum. 
• To keep an accurate record of assigned Wine stock and to be held responsible for any losses that may occur. 
• To ensure that Guest sign their checks and that the checks are made out to the correct Staterooms. 
• To ensure that Company property is maintained properly and treated with respect at all times.
