Position Summary:

This position will serve as the Systems Manager for TourTrek which is a technology startup company focused on selling global destination experiences on the internet. Responsibilities include providing day to day oversight and leadership for all computer and e-Commerce systems associated with the operational aspects of TourTrek. Position is responsible for the secure and effective operation of all computer systems, related applications, hardware, e-Commerce systems and software used within TourTrek globally. Position oversees systems maintenance, manages security/integrity of security, backup procedures, upgrades, data design/integrity, testing and modifying systems to ensure they operate reliably and manages secure network access for remote users. Position works collaboratively with Managing Director and e-Commerce Director to develop strategies for the adoption of new technologies, leads system enhancements opportunities and manages technology providers in the execution of these strategies.This position will contribute to the design, development and implementation of all back of house systems, processes, procedures and internal controls. The position will be based in the Cayman Islands. Qualifying for a work permit and establishing residency and/or extended stays are essential requirements of the position.

Career Snapshot:

  • Works cross functionally with leadership team to develop and implement company's business plan, goals and direction. This includes defining/refining the company vision, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and instilling the highest ethical standards
  • Provides leadership and day to day oversight in the execution of concepts, strategies and supports the eCommerce business with data analytics, demand planning and revenue management strategies by providing timely and accurate information from information systems
  • Manages a team of staff and/or service providers including programmers, analysts and support specialists that evaluate the operational efficiency, functionality and enhancement opportunities connected to the systems
  • Manages all personal computers and networking connections within TourTrek's back office including configuration, trouble shooting, installation of new software, inventory and minor hardware repairs
  • Develops strategies and relationships associated with eCommerce systems maintenance and systems integration providers
  • Manages IT budgets collaboratively with Managing Director and Director, e-Commerce
  • Ensures compliance with software license agreements along with local laws where TourTrek operates
  • Oversees systems maintenance including implementing and managing security/integrity, backup procedures, scheduling upgrades, testing and modifying systems to ensure they operate reliably
  • Oversees systems security and ensures secure network access for remote users
  • Keeps up to up-to-date with new technology, acts on customer feedback and/or TourTrek team to enhance system and coordinates action on these enhancements
  • Provides training on new technology, software systems or enhancements
  • From a systems perspective monitors financial controls, procedures and administrative functions including managing the RFP process, payment processing and vendor performance
  • Startup responsibilities include developing the business rules, processes, controls and procedure associated with company's back office systems
  • Works cross functionally with leadership team to ensures shareholder value by maximizing profits and developing strategies that achieve the highest ROIC

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or directly related, equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience within an IT organization for a small to large multinational organization
  • Minimum 5 years of proven management experience in a multidimensional organization
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the travel industry with a focus on destination deliver
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of leadership and employees
  • Strong negotiating skills and understanding of legal contracts
  • Strong understanding of systems, internal controls and the ability to develop processes and procedures to support the company's operation
  • Strong knowledge of personal computers with networking certification, MS Engineer certification or equivalent
  • Advanced knowledge of personal computers with associated financial software and communication packages

Preferences:

  • MBA and/or other professional certification
  • International business experience
  • A degree focused in information technology, management sciences, business studies, computer science/studies or software/computer engineering disciplines
