Positions Summary:

This position is responsible for processing, investigating and settling guest and employee claims by conducting personal injury liability and damages investigations, reporting workers compensation claims, negotiating out of court settlements and coordinating with defense counsel. Claims representatives are responsible for communicating with guests and employees regarding the status of their claims and negotiating appropriate settlements within assigned settlement authority or obtaining approval from management.

Career Snapshot:

  • Investigates guest and employee personal injury, property, disability, wage, wrongful termination and other claims
  • Conducts witness interviews, reviews incident reports and medical records, attends vessel inspections and performs other investigations as necessary to gain full understanding of facts and circumstances of each claim
  • Reports claims to appropriate P&I Clubs or other insurers
  • Attends depositions, mediations and trials as corporate representative
  • Negotiates out of court settlements with guests and employees within assigned settlement authority and prepares claims evaluation for management to provide appropriate authority when above assigned limits
  • Reports workers compensation claims to insurer and serves as company liaison between insurer and employee
  • Serve as the in-house liaison with in-house or external defense counsel in order to assist with claim investigation, discovery or trial preparation.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree or equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of claims or related experience preferred
  • Adjusters license preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with guests and employees
  • Ability to effectively present information to management in written and verbal form
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
