Summary:

The Assistant Housekeeper assists the Chief Housekeeper with the supervision of the housekeeping department according to the 6 key principles that drive the guest experience culture.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work according to the 6 key principles: show well, the right delights, service wow, sails are up, destination engagement and magical moments.
  • Supervision and oversees the execution of the work schedule as set by the Housekeeper.
  • Completing overtime sheets for the department.
  • Keeps all records in logbook and ensures proper follow up.
  • Keeping the Housekeeper informed about staff performances and supporting corrective actions taken.
  • Assisting in training motivates housekeeping personnel.
  • Requisitioning amenities, cleaning materials, beverages, and fruits for the department
  • Following up on repair orders and use of  the AVO system.
  • Holding regular inspections of guest and crew cabins, guest and crew areas.
  • Ensuring implementation of proper hygiene standards.
  • Ensuring proper handling of ship’s equipment used in the housekeeping department.
  • Keeping daily briefings with GPA Housekeeping..
  • Performs and manages other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for the housekeeping and presentation of public rooms and areas.
  • Responsible for uniform issue, inventory and order.
  • Responsible for the housekeeping of officer and crew accommodation.
  • Responsible for the organization of loading and offloading passenger baggage and the on board collection and distribution of same.
  • Ensuring a high level of service is maintained in officer cabins delivered to company standards.
  • Initiate corrective action as required and continually feedback to Chief Housekeeper.
  • Review feedback from staff and passengers (inc. COB’s) and initiate positive response or corrective action as necessary as agreed by the Chief Housekeeper.
  • Support new initiatives and propose to the Chief Housekeeper ideas for product and service development.
  • Ensure reports are comprehensive, accurate and timely.
  • Ensure all logs are accurately completed and on time includes but not limited to: training logs, cleaning schedules,  etc.
  • Actively participate in inspections as required.
  • As Asst Housekeeper will fully support the shipboard operation and remain flexible to ensure self and team actively participate as required.
  • Complies with all legal, safety, environmental, hygiene, and administration procedures as outlined in all company procedures.
  • Continually monitor technical issues within the areas of responsibility and ensure that issues  are correctly reported and followed up.
  • Liaise closely with the Chief  Housekeeper and Technical department to ensure effective resolution of issues minimizing impact on customer service and staff efficiency.
  • In liaison with the Chief Housekeeper will ensure that career development plans are in place and progressed for all Housekeeping staff. 
  • Responsible for completing appraisals for all direct reports and contributes to appraisals for all staff in own areas.
  • Monitors performance of individuals and ensures that performance improvement plans are in place where necessary.
  • Identifies training needs for individuals and groups and ensures that ‘essential’ and job skills training continually takes place to optimize guest service, maximize revenue and reduce costs. 
  • Responsible for ensuring training records are in place and updated as required in all own areas.
  • Must meet all physical requirements, including the ability to participate in emergency life-saving drills and required training
  • Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and distinctly

Requirements:

  • STCW 4th Part Basic Training
  • Senior High School Graduate
  • PSCRB Certificate
  • Valid Seafarers Medical
  • Must pass a security background check
  • Latest experience must be within the past 2 years

Travel to the yachts and extended stay up to 10 months on board is required. Regularly required to sit and stand.  Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision.  Some stress may occur, especially during traveling periods and during periods of daily activities.
